Hyundai Motor India Foundation strengthened rural education infrastructure with a new academic facility in Kancheepuram district. The centre included classrooms and science laboratories to improve learning environments for students. The initiative formed part of Hyundai’s CSR efforts to support education and community development.

Hyundai Motor India Foundation reinforced its commitment to quality education with an investment of ₹5.22 crore towards the development of the Hyundai Center for Education Excellence at Government Higher Secondary School Thandalam in Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu.

The new academic block was inaugurated by T. M. Anbarasan, Honourable Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MS&ME), Government of Tamil Nadu. The facility was formally handed over to the School Management Committee and Thandalam Village Panchayat in the presence of Mr. Gopalakrishnan C.S. and Mr. Saravanan T., Trustees – Hyundai Motor India Foundation, K. Selvaperunthagai, Member of Legislative Assembly, Sriperumbudur, Dr. A. Nalini, Chief Educational Officer, Kancheepuram, Mr. T. E. Sasikumar, President, Thandalam Panchayat, and Mr. Chandrasekar, Headmaster of Government Higher Secondary School, Thandalam, along with other dignitaries and school representatives.

Spread across 15,750 sq. ft., the centre includes 16 classrooms and two fully equipped science laboratories designed to enhance experiential learning. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to improve classroom engagement, support practical science education and provide a safe and dignified learning environment for students.

Nearly 1,000 students annually are expected to benefit from improved access to modern learning spaces aimed at fostering curiosity, scientific thinking and aspirations for higher education.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Gopalakrishnan C.S., Trustee, Hyundai Motor India Foundation, said:

Commitment Rooted in Community Development

The project was undertaken following requests from the Thandalam Village Panchayat and the School Management Committee, reinforcing HMIF’s focus on collaborative and need-based community development. By investing in educational infrastructure in rural Tamil Nadu, the foundation aims to support long-term inclusive growth and create learning environments where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

With the inauguration of the Hyundai Center for Education Excellence, Hyundai Motor India Foundation continues to advance its vision of driving positive social transformation through education, ensuring that future generations are equipped with the skills, confidence and opportunities needed to succeed in an evolving world.
