The pros or advantages of Celerio petrol 2020 are:

    • It offers the option of petrol MT, CNG MT and petrol AMT
    • Great fuel efficiency and proven reliability

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio petrol 2020 has the following shortcomings or problems:

    • Design is getting too old and lacks excitement
    • More accomplished WagonR with more fuel/engine-transmission options is not that expensive. The WagonR is also known for holding its value in the use car market really well.

Since the price jump for the optional variants is only about Rs. 7,000 - 8,000 (except for ZXI (O)), we strongly suggest you go with the (O) variants only. Therefore, we’ll mostly focus on the LXI (O), VXI (O) and ZXI (O) variants. If you don’t want these features, then you can accordingly choose the non (O) variant. The feature differences between the is constant - except in case of ZXI and ZXI (O) variants, which we’ll explain in this article.

Are The LXI or LXI (O) Variants Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Petrol Worth Buying?

The Celerio LXI variant costs Rs. 4.41 lakh while the LXI (O) costs Rs. 4.5 lakh. The most notable features of Celerio LXI and LXI (O) are:

    • Driver Front Airbag
    • Integrated Front & Rear Headrests
    • Black Door Handles & ORVMs
    • Front passenger airbag (LXI (O) only)
    • Bottle Holders
    • R13 Steel Wheels w/out Covers
    • Front Seatbelt Pretensioners & Force Limiter (LXI (O) only)
    • Air Conditioner with heater
    • Rear Parking Sensors
    • Power Steering
    • Front Power Outlet
    • Body Coloured Bumpers
    • ABS w/ EBD

The Celerio LXI (O) variant is worth buying if you’re interested in this car. But it’s not because it has a lot of features for a good price. It’s because the VXI and VXI (O) variants are quite overpriced. Let’s examine the VXI and VXI (O) variants now.

Are The VXI or VXI (O) Variants Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Petrol Worth Buying?

The Celerio VXI petrol MT costs Rs. 4.8 lakh and the VXI (O) petrol MT costs Rs. 4.87 lakh. The price difference between the Celerio VXI/VXI (O) and LXI/LXI (O) variants is about Rs. 37,600 to 39,000 - lesser for the (O) model. For this additional sum, you get the following additional features:

    • Day/Night IRVM
    • Front & Rear Power Windows w/ Driver Side Auto Down
    • Passenger Side Vanity Mirror
    • Body Coloured ORVM & Door Handles
    • Central Locking
    • Internally Adjustable ORVM
    • Rear Seat (60:40 split)
    • Chrome Grille
    • R14 Wheels w/ Covers
    • Front passenger airbag (VXI (O) only)
    • Front Seatbelt Pretensioners & Force Limiter (VXI (O) only)

The additional features of the VXI variant don’t justify the price jump, which makes it a bad value. You can consider this variant because it covers the basic needs with must-have features like internally adjustable mirror, day/night mirror, power windows, central locking etc.

Are The VXI AMT or VXI (O) AMT Variants Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Petrol Worth Buying?

The Celerio VXI AMT and VXI (O) AMT costs Rs. 43,000 more than the comparable non-AMT models. The additional AMT is well priced. This upgrade greatly negates the low value for money quotient of the VXI and VXI (O) variants. The VXI AMT and VXI (O) AMT petrol variants are definitely worth buying if you’re on a budget. But if you can spend more, then keep reading as we have better #VFM option for Celerio AMT buyers.

The features of the AMT are the same as for the MT model except for the following 2:

    • Temperature Display (AMT Only)
    • Gear Position Indicator (AMT Only)

Are The VXI or VXI (O) CNG Variants Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Worth Buying?

The Celerio VXI CNG and VXI (O) CNG variants cost about Rs. 81,000 more over the VXI/VXI (O) petrol MT variants. Celerio CNG costs Rs. 5.61 lakh for the VXI and Rs. 5.68 lakh for the VXI (O) variants.

For the Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG, you don’t have any other option as it’s not available in the ZXI or LXI variants. If you have a lot of running and have a wide CNG dispensing network, then you can go with the VXI CNG MT or VXI (O) CNG variants of the Celerio.

Is The ZXI MT Variant Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Petrol Worth Buying?

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio ZXI variant costs Rs. 5.06 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s Rs. 26,000 more than the VXI and Rs. 19,000 more than the VXI (O) variants. The Celerio’s ZXI variant gets the following notable extra features over VXI variant:

    • Rear Window Wiper & Washer
    • Music system with 4 speakers
    • Rear Defogger
    • Electrically Adjustable ORVM
    • Remote Central Locking
    • Steering Mounted Controls
    • Tilt Steering

The additional price you pay for these features is totally worth it. The Celerio ZXI is a great value for money variant and it earns our recommendation if you don’t want the passenger airbag and some good-to-have features. Unfortunately, you can’t get a passenger airbag without paying for the extra features you may not need. The price jump from ZXI MT to ZXI (O) MT is also quite steep at about Rs. 40,000.

Is The ZXI (O) MT Variant Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Petrol Worth Buying?

The 2020 Celerio ZXI (O) variant costs Rs. 5.46 lakh. It’s about Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 59,000 more expensive than the Celerio ZXI MT and VXI (O) MT variants, respectively. The ZXI (O)’s additional features over the ZXI variant are:

    • Security System
    • Height Adjustable Driver Seat
    • R14 Alloy Wheels
    • Front Fog Lamps
    • Front passenger airbag
    • Front seatbelt pre-tensioner and load limiter

It’s easy to manage without most of them. The Alloy wheels are a big value item in this list and it’s something you can easily get later if you want. This variant is not a good value for money option. But, there’s another option for you that gives you more of what you need and less of what you don’t. Read on to find out.

Are The ZXI AMT or ZXI (O) AMT Variants Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Petrol Worth Buying?

The ZXI AMT and ZXI (O) variants of the Maruti Celerio cost Rs. 5.49 lakh and Rs. 5.58 lakh (ex-showroom). The ZXI automatic variant is Rs. 43,000 more than ZXI manual. The two variants get the same features while the AMT also gets the 2 extra features:

    • Outside temp display
    • Gear position indicator

The price jump from ZXI (O) manual to ZXI (O) AMT is only Rs. 12,000. The reason why this AMT is so affordable is because the top-spec automatic model of the Celerio doesn’t get the following features:

    • Security System
    • Height Adjustable Driver Seat
    • R14 Alloy Wheels
    • Front Fog Lamps

Since it’s easier to manage without these features than without an AMT for city driving, we strongly suggest the ZXI (O) MT buyers consider the ZXI (O) AMT. The convenience of an automatic transmission can’t be added later at a reasonable cost. But most of the ZXI (O)’s features can be installed aftermarket in the ZXI (O) manual.

The ZXI (O) automatic is our top recommendation in the entire Celerio’s variant lineup. It’s worth buying and the most value-for-money variant of the Celerio.

Which Variant Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Petrol Offers The Most Value For Money?

For the Maruti Celerio buyers considering the petrol MT combo, the ZXI (O) is our top recommendation and the most value for money variant. However, the additional features of the ZXI (O) over the ZXI are not important. So, you may want to consider the VXI (O) or upgrade to the ZXI (O) AMT. The VXI (O) variant is not a value for money upgrade over the LXI (O), but it covers the basic quite well, so it’s a great middle-ground for budget buyers.

We can’t recommend the LXI and VXI variants as they don’t get the passenger airbag. The ZXI is okay to buy because the price jump to ZXI (O) is quite high.

Top value-for-money variant with Manual transmission

Among the AMT automatic variants of the Celerio, the ZXI (O) is an easy recommendation. It costs only Rs. 12,000 more than the ZXI (O) manual and skips some good-to-have features in favour of the AMT automatic. If you can’t stretch for the ZXI (O), then the VXI (O) is also worth considering. Although the VXI and VXI (O) manual are not a great value for money variants, the VXI AMT and VXI (O) automatic offset that to a great extent by offering the automatic transmission for a relatively lower price.

In case of the CNG variants, you don’t have much choice. However, if you have to buy the Celerio CNG, then VXI (O) is the one you should pick.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Petrol And Its Competitors?

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio’s 1.0-litre normal petrol engine makes 68PS of power and 90Nm of torque. It has a torque-to-weight ratio comparable with the Santro and WagonR 1.0. But the WagonR’s 1.2 engine embarrasses the others with significantly better performance. The Celerio petrol’s performance is satisfactory for this class of cars but not impressive like the WagonR 1.2.

Same is the case with the fuel efficiency, which is good but not groundbreaking.
