Before we provide the actual Range of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450, let's briefly explain our testing process so that you can decide if it matches your preferences, style and conditions for driving.

We use the charge-to-similar-charge method for our real-world electric range tests. First, we charge the car to over 80 percent, reset the trip meter, and then begin our 100km city drive in Delhi NCR traffic. The test is conducted on the same route during weekdays to simulate realistic city driving conditions, while maintaining the same load to keep the results consistent. We also maintain the cabin temperature between 21°C and 25°C during the test.

For the city run, we use the highest regenerative braking setting available and enable one-pedal driving if the EV offers the feature. During the highway run, we select the adaptive or auto regenerative braking mode, where available, as it offers a more natural and relaxed cruising experience without requiring the driver to constantly manage regeneration levels for maximum efficiency. Across both city and highway tests, the drive mode is kept in Normal mode, since our goal is not to extract the highest possible efficiency figures, but to evaluate how the EV is likely to perform for most drivers in everyday driving situations.

Once the city run is complete, we note the drop in battery percentage and reset the trip metre before starting the highway range test. For the highway run, we use the stretch around Sohna on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and drive the car for around ~100km. After completing both runs, we recharge the battery back to the same level from where the test began and note the total units consumed. We then use the battery percentage drop recorded during the city and highway runs, along with the units charged, to calculate the car's real-world range in both driving conditions.

What Is The Actual City Range Of Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450?

Starting with a battery charge of 100 per cent, we drove the EQS SUV 450 in the city traffic for 101km. In our real-world city range test of EQS SUV 450, the battery percentage dropped by 18%. The displayed efficiency at the end of the run was 4.90kmpu.

What Is The Real Highway Range Of Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450?

We headed out on a 104.7km run on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway to test the highway range of the EQS SUV 450. During the highway run, our average speed was 69.8kmph. In our real-world highway range test of EQS SUV 450, the displayed efficiency at the end of the run was 5.00kmpu. After the drive, we recharged the EQS SUV 450 to 100 per cent, using 44 units of electricity and incurred a bill of Rs. 1100 with a charging cost of Rs. 25 pu in Gurgaon, Haryana.

Claimed Electric Range Vs Actual Highway/City Range Of Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450 — What's The Difference?

Based on our range test, the EQS SUV 450 gave us a city range of 562km. On the highways, we saw the range drop to 583km.

Compared to the official claimed range figure of the EQS SUV 450, its city efficiency turned out to be 2.12kmpu less efficient. Thus, showing a 31.55% deviation from the claimed figure.

In terms of highway efficiency, we achieved a figure of 4.78kmpu with the EQS SUV 450 we drove. Thus, the deviation in the highway efficiency of EQS SUV 450 is about 28.99%.

If your driving happens entirely on the highways or just within the city, then you know what efficiency you can expect from the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450. However, for those who have a mixed usage, we have compiled combinations of the effective range of EQS SUV 450 based on the variations of city-highway driving ratio.

Using these customised city-highway combinations, you can better gauge what realistic efficiency and range on a full charge you can expect from the EQS SUV 450.

*City efficiency: 4.61kmpu; Highway efficiency: 4.78kmpu

Based on these combinations, for a 70% city and 30% highway usage, you can expect a real world efficiency of 4.66kmpu. With a flipped combination, where you drive the EQS SUV 450 70% on the highways and 30% in the city, you should expect your real-world efficiency figure to hover around 4.73kmpu.

For an even split of 50% city and 50% highway usage, your real efficiency with the EQS SUV 450 is likely to be closer to 4.69kmpu.

Real Driving Range (Per Full Charge) and Driving Cost Of Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450 For Your Driving Requirements

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450 comes with a 122-kWh battery pack. With this capacity and the real-world efficiency estimates, you can expect to get a range of 583km to 562km depending on whether your driving is entirely within the city or on the highways.

With a 70-30 driving split in favour of city usage, you can expect a range of 569km from the EQS SUV 450. However, if you flip the driving condition to 30-70 in favour of highway, then you should expect a range of 577km on a full charge. On an even split of 50% city driving and 50% highway driving, you will have a range of 572km.

To calculate how much it will cost you to drive the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450, we have to make some assumptions. First, if you predominantly charge your EV at home, we are assuming a per unit cost of Rs. 8.5 - this can of course change based on your location, local tariff structure, overall electricity consumption and more, but we are taking an average of home electricity charges across India.

Second, if you charge at a public charger, the per unit cost will vary depending on the charger operator and the charging speed offered - we are using an average cost of Rs. 25 pu for the following chart.

Per our calculations, depending on where you charge the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450, the per km cost of driving it in the city can range from Rs. 0.67 to Rs. 1.96.

If your driving situation is completely on the highway instead, you will end up spending anywhere from Rs. 0.642per km to Rs. 1.887per km instead.

Conclusion:

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450 delivered a real-world range of 562km in city driving and 583km on highways, which is lower than its claimed range of 821km. For most users with mixed driving conditions, a practical full-charge range of around 572km can be expected. Despite the difference from the claimed figures, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450 remains an efficient EV with low running costs, making it a viable option for daily commuting and long-distance travel.

Honda ZR-V Variants & Exterior Design

Honda ZR-V Hybrid Variants

In Japan the ZRV Hybris is offered in two main variants, the X Base and Z Top. The Z Top also gets 2 special edition variants - the Z Black Style and the Z Cross Touring. As the names suggest, the Black Style gets blacked-out exterior and interior highlights, while the Cross Touring is fitted with exterior elements like front and rear bash plates and side cladding which make it look more rough-road ready. 

We expect Honda to bring the ZR-V Hybrid Z Top variant to India, which has a more upmarket design and all the features which will fit its halo product positioning here.

Honda offers the ZRV Hybrid with two different grille designs in every market - one with vertical fins and one with honeycomb elements. We expect the vertical grille to be offered in India as it gives it the more appealing SUV look.

As you can see above, the ZR-V Hybrid takes a softer approach to SUV design. It has flowing curves and a gentle face. The tapering hood has been designed for better forward visibility for the driver, the vertical grille breaks the otherwise tame design.

The closeup of the grille of the ZRV Hybrid shows the eight-sided main opening with 11 vertical elements in it. The vertical slats are not straight, except for the one in the middle, the upper element of each curves to the side progressively.

With the parcel tray placed in the underfloor console, the boot space measured up to the roof is expected to be 550L.

With the rear seats folded the space increases to 866L when measured up to the windowline and 1291L when measured up to the roof.

An automatic transmission and 4WD system can achieve a 0-100kmph time of 8 seconds.

ZR-V Hybrid Drive Modes

The ZRV Hybrid’s system can switch between engine-only, EV-only, hybrid drive and brake energy recovery mode automatically. In all drive modes, except sport, the system prioritises high fuel mileage over performance. The ZRV Hybrid mileage is claimed to be between 17.2kmpl to 20.8kmpl, depending on the testing method.

The dual-pane panoramic sunroof is available in 4 variants – HTK Plus, HTX, HTX Plus and KTX Plus (O) – of the 2025 Syros. In comparison, the Kia Sonet is only available with a single-pane sunroof. However, it is limited to a few variants (S Plus, S (O), SX (O), and SX (O) Knight) equipped with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with DCT automatic transmission.

The Syros is offers with a more comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite, offering advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking. The Sonet, while equipped with ADAS, does not offer adaptive cruise control.

10. Electronic Parking Brake

The new Kia offers an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function, enhancing convenience and safety. The Sonet, on the other hand, offers a conventional handbrake.

Note: We tested the Honda Elevate petrol-automatic on February 26, 2024. The fuel price mentioned in this article is applicable at the time of testing. However, the Elevate petrol-automatic fuel efficiency figures (city and highway) are relevant even on the day you happen to be reading this post.

Testing Method

Before we provide the actual mileage of the Honda Elevate petrol-automatic, let’s briefly explain our testing process so that you can decide if it matches your preferences, style and conditions for driving.

We use the tank-full-to-tank-full method, wherein we first fill up the fuel tank to the brim and reset the trip metre before commencing our 100km city drive in Delhi NCR traffic. We drive along the same route during weekdays to simulate a realistic city driving condition and with the same load to keep our test results consistent. Once we’re done with the Elevate city driving, we head back to the fuel station for a refill and note the trim metre reading to calculate city mileage and reset it before once again setting off for the highway run. For the Elevate petrol highway run, we choose the stretch around Sohna along the Delhi-Mumbai expressway and we drive it for 100km at a speed of around 100kmph. Then, we refill and note down the trip metre readings to calculate the highway mileage figure.

What Is The Actual City Mileage Of Honda Elevate Petrol-Auto?

After driving the Elevate with the petrol-automatic powertrain in the city traffic for about 4 hours and 40 minutes we drove back to the fuel station. We covered 102km with an average speed of 22kmph. During refuelling, we were able to fill up 8.17 litres of petrol in the Elevate at a per litre petrol price of Rs. 97. Thus, the total bill stood at Rs. 792.49 and in our real-world city mileage test of the Elevate petrol-automatic, we got a final fuel efficiency figure of 12.48kmpl.

What Is The Real Highway Mileage Of Honda Elevate Petrol-Auto?

With the tank filled to the brim once again, we headed out on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway to test the highway mileage of the Elevate petrol-automatic. During the highway run, we cruised at 100kmph and managed to complete our 165km drive in about 2 hours and 30 minutes. So, our average speed during the highway mileage test of the Elevate was 66kmph. After the drive, we managed to fill up 9.65 litres of petrol in our Elevate and incurred a bill of Rs. 936.05 with a fuel price of Rs. 97 per litre in Gurgaon, Haryana. During our highway run of the Honda Elevate with the 1.5L normal petrol-automatic powertrain, we achieved a highway mileage of 17.1kmpl.

Claimed Mileage Vs Actual Highway/City Mileage Of Honda Elevate Petrol-Auto — What’s The Difference?

Based on our mileage test, the Elevate petrol-automatic gave us a city mileage of 12.48kmpl. On the highways, you can expect this figure to jump up by 37% to 17.1kmpl, as we saw in our Elevate mileage test.

Compared to its official claimed mileage figure, our Elevate automatic city mileage turned out to be 12.48kmpl. Thus, showing a negative 26% deviation from the claimed figure. With this fuel efficiency, you can expect to incur a per kilometre fuel cost of Rs. 7.77 if you drive mostly in the city traffic with a fuel cost of Rs. 97 per litre.

In terms of highway mileage, we achieved a figure of 17.1kmpl with the Elevate we drove. This number of 17.10kmpl is more than the claimed mileage figure. Thus, the deviation in the highway mileage of the Elevate petrol-automatic is positive 1%.
