What Are The Pros And Cons Of Renault Kiger Petrol?

The pros or advantages of Kiger petrol are:

Renault Kiger Petrol RXE - Base Model Features & Review

The Renault Kiger RXE variant costs Rs. 5.64 lakh, and it’s available with only a manual transmission option. Even the base trim of the Kiger gets LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, 16-inch wheels with covers, a front armrest and an MID. However, it doesn’t get remote central locking, music system, power mirrors, and has black door handles and ORVMS, which don’t look nice on a car like the Kiger.

However, from a value perspective, the Kiger RXE comes across as a good option. You’ll just have to be prepared to spend some cash on accessorising this variant.

If you want the Kiger with the turbo petrol engine, then the Kiger RXT is worth buying. With the normal petrol engine, the RXT variant seems reasonably priced but you should still consider the RXT (O) trim. Read on to find out the reason behind this recommendation.

Renault Kiger Petrol RXT vs RXT (O) Variant- Price And Features Comparison

The price difference between the Renault Kiger RXT and RXT (O) variants is Rs.35,000. The RXT (O) is only available with the normal petrol engine, and it costs Rs. 7.37 lakh with the manual and Rs. 7.87 lakh with the automatic transmission.

Therefore, you should buy the RXT (O) instead of the RXT variant. This is our top recommended variant of the Renault Kiger with the normal petrol engine.

For the Kiger normal petrol engine buyers, the RXZ variant is worth upgrading, but it doesn’t add enough must-have features to warrant an upgrade. For Kiger turbo buyers also, the RXZ is worth upgrading from a value perspective. However, the RXT turbo remains our top pick with the turbo petrol engine.

Which Variant Of The 2021 Renault Kiger Petrol Should You Buy?

Let’s start by dissecting the engine requirements. If you’ll mostly drive in the city or this is a secondary car, then the Kiger normal petrol engine is good enough. You should buy the Kiger turbo if it becomes your primary car for city as well as highway driving. The turbo petrol engine’s torque spread will make driving in traffic and overtaking on the highways equally easy.

Now that we have the engine figured out, for the normal petrol engine, the RXT (O) is an easy recommendation as it gets most of the must-have features and offers good value for money. You can also consider the RXT and the RXZ variants, depending on your budget. If you have a lower budget, then you should buy the RXE and add accessories to it instead of buying the RXL, as it’s not a VFM upgrade.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Renault Kiger Petrol?

The Kiger is available with 2 engine options - a 1.0-litre normal petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol. Compared to the other cars in the segment with a normal petrol engine, the Kiger has the lowest power and torque output, but its torque-to-weight ratio is on par with the normal petrol models of the WRV, Venue and Sonet. The Kiger normal petrol model shares its frame, engine and transmission with the Nissan Magnite. So, we can assume that Kiger’s base petrol engine also delivers around the same class-leading fuel efficiency.

Among the turbocharged rivals, the Kiger leads with the best-in-class torque-to-weight ratio of 158Nm/t, which is on par with the Magnite turbo. With the CVT automatic, this figure dives down to 146 but still remains comparable with that of the Venue turbo, Nexon, Sonet turbo and XUV300. The Kiger and Magnite are the most fuel-efficient cars among the turbocharged sub-4m SUV class as well.
