What Are The Pros And Cons Of Renault Kiger?
The pros or advantages of Renault Kiger are:
- Choice of 4 engine-transmission combinations
- High likelihood of earning 5-star BNCAP/GNCAP safety rating as the new Magnite also has a 5-star score with the same platform
- Exceptionally well-loaded base variant gets most of the must-have features and is very easy to recommend
- Biggest boot space in the segment; it’s considerably bigger than even the Magnite, which shares the platform and mechanicals with the Kiger
- 205mm ground clearance is second only to the Nexon’s 209mm
- 16-inch wheels are standard on all variants
- Option of govt-approved CNG kit with dealer-level fitment, RC endorsement & 3yr/1 lakh km warranty
The Renault Kiger petrol has the following shortcomings or problems:
- 16-inch wheels with the 1.0L normal petrol engine may affect its drivability because of the higher rotating mass; especially with the CNG
- Doesn’t offer the road presence like the Magnite; from a distance, it looks like a slightly larger Kwid
- Limited number of variants with the turbo petrol engine; turbo manual only available in 1 variant
- Limited sales and service network
- Missing feature: No sunroof
- Missing feature: no variant with 6 airbags — Addressed by Renault in August 2025 update; 6 airbags now made standard equipment
- Cruise control not available in any variant - Addressed by Renault in April 2022 update
- Turbo petrol engine not available in well-priced RXT (O) variant - Addressed by Renault in April 2022 update
What Is The Price Of Renault Kiger Petrol Variants?
The 2025 Renault Kiger continues its 4 engine-transmission combinations:
- 1.0L normal petrol with manual transmission
- 1.0L turbo petrol with manual transmission
- 1.0L normal petrol with AMT automatic transmission
- 1.0L turbo petrol with CVT automatic transmission
The normal petrol engine with manual transmission is available in all 4 variants with prices starting from Rs. 6.30 lakh for the base Authentic variant and going up to Rs. 9.15 lakh (ex-showroom) for the RXZ variant. The normal petrol engine is also available with an AMT automatic transmission in the 2 mid variants for an additional Rs. 50,000. Evolution and Techno AMT variants carry an ex-showroom price of Rs. 7.60 lakh and Rs. 8.70 lakh, respectively.
The turbo petrol engine with manual transmissions is available in only the top variant for an ex-showroom price of Rs. 10.0 lakh. This price is Rs. 85,000 higher than the Emotion non-turbo variant. The turbo petrol-automatic is available in the top 2 variants. The Techno turbo automatic costs Rs. 10.0 lakh, which is Rs. 1.30 lakh higher than Techno petrol-AMT automatic.

The Kiger Authentic seems exceptionally loaded for a base variant of a B2-SUV costing just Rs. 6.30 lakh. This is an excellent choice for budget-conscious buyers.
Renault Kiger Authentic vs Evolution Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
The Evolution variant of the Kiger gets the same 1.0L normal petrol engine with manual and AMT automatic transmission option. With the petrol-manual powertrain, it costs 7.10 lakh, which is Rs. 80,000 higher than the base model. For another Rs. 50,000, you can buy it with the AMT automatic.

In the Kiger Evolution, you may miss features like:
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- Auto AC
The Evolution variant offers 85% value for money with the manual and 91% VFM with AMT automatic transmission. These are good figures and make it a worth a serious look even for budget buyers. In fact, if you are interested in Kiger AMT, this is our top recommendation. For manual buyers, this variant covers the base model’s feature gaps quite well without taking a huge hit in terms of value for money.
Renault Kiger Evolution vs Techno Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
Besides the 1.0L normal petrol with manual and automatic transmissions, the Techno variant also adds the option of 1.0L turbo petrol engine with CVT automatic powertrain. With the normal petrol manual and automatic, Kiger Techno costs Rs. 8.20 lakh and Rs. 8.70 lakh (ex-sh), respectively. These prices are Rs. 1.10 lakh higher than the Evolution variant with same powertrains.
The Kiger Techno turbo CVT automatic costs Rs. 10.0 lakh, which is Rs. 1.30 lakh higher than the Techno AMT automatic.

Considering the asking price of Kiger Techno, you may miss the following features in this variant:
- Rear defogger
- LED or projector headlamps
- Cruise control
The Kiger Techno variant has 80% VFM score with both automatic variants (turbo CVT, AMT). With the normal petrol-manual, it only has 74% VFM score. This isn’t a great figure for Kiger manual buyers; not enough to earn our recommendation. In fact, with the automatic, we will suggest you either buy the lower variant or stretch for the top model. Techno automatic is not recommended with either automatic transmission.
Renault Kiger Petrol Techno vs Emotion Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
The 2025 Kiger top model gets 3 powertrain options: normal petrol-manual, turbo petrol-manual and turbo petrol-automatic. They carry an ex-showroom price of Rs. 9.15 lakh, Rs. 10.0 lakh and Rs. 11.30 lakh, respectively. The Emotion normal petrol is Rs. 95,000 pricier than the Techno normal petrol. However, the price gap between Techno and Emotion with turbo petrol-auto, the price gap is Rs. 1.30 lakh.

In the fully-loaded Kiger top model, we don’t see any critical feature missing other than a sunroof.
With the Emotion top variant, the Kiger normal petrol-manual offers a 110% value score according to our algorithm. Meanwhile, the Emotion turbo petrol-manual has a score of 100% after factoring in the performance upgrades. While the non-turbo is a better option strictly from a VFM perspective, the upgrade to the Emotion turbo is a far better choice and our top recommendation. The performance upgrade is something you will appreciate whether you are driving the car on the highway or in the city.
For Kiger automatic buyers, the value score of Emotion turbo CVT is quite good at 94%. With such a score, we are comfortable recommending Techno CVT buyers to upgrade to the top variant for the same reasons. The much higher torque output will not only help you with overtaking on the highways, but also with superior drivability in the city.
Which Variant Of The 2025 Renault Kiger Petrol Should You Buy?
For budget-conscious buyers interested in the Kiger, there’s good news. The base model of the Kiger is exceptionally well loaded with most of the must-have features and only a few features missing. However, if you want to avoid aftermarket accessories, then the Evolution is a great choice, although it comes with some compromise in value for money.
From there, the Techno offers lower VFM scores and we can’t recommend it. However, because of high-value style features such as alloy wheels, the Emotion manages to offer superior value for money than any other Kiger variant. Still, we will suggest you stretch your budget a little and buy Kiger with the turbo petrol engine. It has a solid value for money score of 100% and the performance upgrade is something you will appreciate every time you drive it — whether you are in the city or on the highway.

For Kiger automatic buyers, the affordable Evolution variant is our top recommendation. It offers most of the must-have features we expect of a car costing around Rs. 7.50 lakh ex-showroom — in a B2 SUV size body. The Techno AMT and Techno CVT only have a satisfactory value for money score and are not recommended. If you want some more features, then the jump to Emotion CVT, Kiger’s top variant, is a better choice. Although, most of its value for money score comes from the addition of alloy wheels.
What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Renault Kiger Petrol?
The Kiger is available with 2 engine options — a 1.0-litre normal petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol. You can buy either of those with either a 5-speed manual or an automatic. The non-turbo petrol engine gets a 5-speed AMT type automatic while the turbo petrol gets a CVT type automatic transmission.
Compared to affordable small SUVs with a non-turbo engine, the Kiger’s engine has the lowest power and torque. Only the Magnite, which shares the platform and powertrain with the Kiger, has performance figures in line with those of the Kiger.

Next to SUVs with a 1.0L turbo petrol engine, the Kiger has comparable performance and respectable mileage figures with the Fronx/Taisor twins being the only ones lagging behind the Kiger.

When compared with the 1.2L turbo petrol SUVs, the Kiger fades next to the 3XO’s 230Nm peak torque output with its direct injection engine.

What Are The Dimensions Of The 2025 Renault Kiger?
The Kiger’s dimensions remain mostly the same as before and it has the best-in-class ground clearance of 205mm. Against small and affordable SUVs, only the Magnite matches the Kiger’s ground clearance figure. In terms of wheel sizes, again, the Kiger and Magnite are the only two cars offering large, 16-inch wheels as standard. The Kiger also has best-in-class boot space of 405 litres.

Next to larger or more expensive B2 SUVs, the Kiger’s width fails to impress as even the Fronx/Taisor are wider than the Kiger. Here, the Sonet offers the same, 205mm ground clearance as the Kiger while the Nexon beats them all with a 209mm clearance.

Since the updated youtube video is not present for new kiger, could you pleaseeeee tell me in case of turbo petrol automatic variant, which one is a better buy - rxz or rxt(o). Also considering i am from bangalore and road tax is highest in karnataka. Is taking rxt optional giving a lesser value for money?
It's been long Kiger is updated, however I could find any videos or article. Could you please suggest me, should I go with turbo or non turbo version. If non turbo, i will surely buy RXZ model.. While in turbo, I can go with RXT optional. If I choose RXZ turbo then I opens more cars in that price bracket, I am totally confused which one to buy.
