Toyota Taisor vs Fronx — Price Comparison

The Taisor costs more than the Fronx — except if you are buying it with the turbo petrol engine. In that case, the prices are exactly the same as those of the Fronx.

Maruti Suzuki officials have said this many times that the 1.2L variants of the Fronx are very high in demand. Thus, we can see Toyota trying to squeeze more cash out of the buyers. The Taisor’s 1.2L petrol-manual variants are Rs. 22,000 pricier. The AMT and CNG variants are Rs. 25,000 more expensive than the comparable variants of the Fronx

Another thing worth noting is that the Fronx doesn’t get S CNG (Delta CNG equivalent) and S Plus turbo (Delta Plus turbo equivalent) variants.

Otherwise, as we expected in our expected price article, even the naming convention followed is pretty lazy. S Plus = Delta Plus. Perhaps some variation would have been nice. We didn’t expect to have such high accuracy in guessing the S Plus variant name.

On the front, the Fronx borrows heavily from the Grand Vitara and the big grille helps it look a lot like its big brother. It also gets the trademark 3-element LED DRLs (dual-function). Just below are the 3 reflector LED headlamps.

The Taisor does the same thing and brings a familiar Toyota grille, which we have seen on the Hyryder and Hycross. Instead of the 3-element LED DRLs, the Taisor gets 2 horizontal stripes, which do double duty as indicator as well.

Along the sides, there’s not much to see as both cars look pretty much identical. The only notable difference is in their alloy wheel designs.

Around the back, we again see the Nexa design elements present in the Fronx’ tail lamps and missing in the Taisor. The 2 cars also get the connecting LED light strip. And it seems identical to that of the Fronx. The rest of the body panels and creases are exactly the same in the 2 cars.

The same story continues when you step inside. They feel very familiar as they share a lot with their hatchback siblings. The differences are very difficult to spot. The dash and door panels, which are deep red in the Fronx are brown-ish in the Taisor. If you don’t notice the logo, you’ll have a hard time telling if you’re sitting in the Fronx or the Taisor. And by touch and feel alone, you can’t even tell if you’re sitting in an “SUV” (Fronx/SUV” or a hatchback (Baleno/Glanza).

In terms of features, the comparable variants of the Fronx and Taisor are perfectly even.

Toyota Taisor vs Fronx — Dimension, Engine Spec Comparison

In terms of engine specs also, the two cars are identical and they also have the same dimensions. The only notable difference comes in the form of mileage figures. While Toyota haven’t revealed the mileage for all powertrains, the Taisor 1.2L petrol-AMT’s mileage is 0.09kmpl lower than that of the Fronx. Thus, we shouldn't expect any notable deviation in the mileage figures of the two cars.

The other area where the two cars differ is with the warranty. The Maruti Fronx offers a 2-year or 40,000km standard warranty. The Toyota Taisor gets a much better standard warranty coverage for 3-year or 1,00,000km.

In terms of extended warranty coverage also, the Fronx will only give you up to 5-year or 1,00,000km of peace of mind. Toyota, on the other hand, will offer up to 5-year or 2,20,000km of coverage on the Taisor. Thus, if you intend to cover significantly more than 1,00,000km during the first 5 years of ownership, then you can look at the higher upfront cost as the fee for better warranty coverage.

If you don’t drive all that much, then the Maruti’s wider service network is a big plus point in the favour of Nexa Fronx.

Maruti Fronx vs Taisor — Colour Comparison

White, silver and grey are the common colours available for Taisor as well as Fronx. While both cars get the red shade, based on the online images, it looks like the Taisor’s red is a shade deeper.
