11 Features Maruti Suzuki Fronx Gets But Tata Punch Doesn’t | V3Cars

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is the latest entrant in the B2-segment SUV space. It sits below the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and rivals the Tata Punch, which is currently the best seller in the B1-segment SUV space.

Features Maruti Suzuki Fronx Gets Over Tata Punch

In this article, we share the features that are missing in the Punch but available in the Maruti Fronx.

1. Side Thorax And Curtain Airbags

The top variants of the Fronx offer side thorax and curtain airbags whereas the Punch offers only 2 front airbags. It is worth noting that the Punch received a 5 star safety rating from Global NCAP. The Fronx, on the other hand, is yet to undergo the Global NCAP crash test.

2. Hill Start Assist

The Fronx offers hill start assist, aka hill hold assist, in all its variants as a standard feature. The Punch, on the other hand, doesn’t offer this feature in any of its variants. Hill start assist prevents the car from rolling backwards on an uphill climb and helps you to accelerate easily. This features comes in handy, especially with automatic cars.

3. Auto Dimming IRVM

The top variant of the Fronx offers an auto dimming inside rear view mirror (IRVM) whereas the Punch offers a manual dimming IRVM. An auto dimming IRVM automatically adjusts the brightness depending on the glare coming from behind.

4. 360-Degree Parking Camera

The Fronx offers a 360-degree parking camera over the Punch, which only gets a reverse parking camera. It is worth noting that a 360-degree parking camera not only offers a bird’s eye view but also warns the driver with an alert in case the system detects any obstacles around the car.

5. Wireless Phone Charger

The top variants of the Fronx offer a wireless phone charger whereas the Punch only offers a USB charger. It is worth mentioning that the Fronx also gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay that is missing on the Punch.

6. LED Headlights

The top variants of the Fronx offer tri-beam LED headlights whereas the Punch offers halogen-based projector headlights. It is worth mentioning that the Fronx misses fog lights whereas the Punch offers halogen fog lights with cornering function as well.

7. Telescopic Steering

The new Fronx gets both tilt and telescopic steering whereas the Punch only gets tilt steering. The former is sorely missed in the Punch as a tilt and telescopic steering helps the driver find the ideal driving position that ensures comfort over both short and long drives.

8. Front Armrest

The Fronx offers a front centre armrest with storage whereas the Punch doesn’t offer a front centre armrest. A front centre armrest improves the driving comfort for both driver and co-passenger over the longer drives.

9. Rear AC Vents

The Fronx offers rear AC vents that help to cool or heat the cabin quickly. This feature is sorely missed in the Punch, given that even some small hatchbacks offer this feature.

10. Head-up Display

The Fronx is the only other sub-compact SUV in the country to offer a head-up display. It uses a projection setup to display data like fuel efficiency, vehicle speed, engine RPM and more. It is worth noting that the Punch gets a digital instrument cluster but the Fronx gets conventional dials.

11. Paddle Shifters

Along with the new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, Maruti Suzuki also offer paddle shifters with the new Fronx. The Punch, on the other hand, lacks paddle shifters. It is worth mentioning that only the turbo petrol variants of the Fronx offer paddle shifters.
