Toyota have officially teased the 2022 facelift of the Glanza. They will launch the premium hatchback on March 15. It is a rebadged version of the 2022 Maruti Baleno, which Maruti launched on February 23. However, this time, Toyota have put some more effort into differentiating their version of the premium hatchback from that of the Maruti.

The design changes include a completely new front fascia. It gets an all-new grille, bumper, and fog lamp housing, which are different from the new Baleno. The headlight setup, though similar to the Baleno, will get a single strip of LED DRL underlining the headlamp. On the other hand, the new Baleno features 3-boomerang shaped LED DRLs. It is worth noting that the lower trims of the Baleno also get single LED DRL with the LED headlights.

From the side, the only difference in the new Glanza from the new Baleno is a new set of dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear has not yet been revealed, but we expect it to resemble the new Baleno. Overall, the new Glanza will appear slightly different than the Baleno. The old Glanza was identical to the Baleno, except for the badging and the grille.

On the inside, the Glanza will be identical to the new Baleno, except for the colour scheme. The Glanza will get black and beige interiors, with a gloss black finish around the touchscreen infotainment system. We can expect the same colour scheme for the upholstery as well. On the other hand, the Baleno gets a blue and black interior, with a silver finish around the touchscreen. The upholstery of the Baleno is also blue and black. The Glanza will borrow the steering wheel from the Swift, only with a Toyota badge.

The features list include a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (wireless connectivity via OTA update), Auto AC, head-up display, 360-degree camera, telematics, rear AC vents, 6 airbags, and ESP. Alexa-based voice commands will also feature in the Glanza.

The 2022 Toyota Glanza will share its engine with the Baleno. It will come with a 1.2L normal petrol engine which produces 90PS of power and 113Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT transmission. Like before, we expect Toyota to only offer the Glanza based on the mid-spec and top-spec variants of the Baleno.
Expect Toyota to price the Glanza at a small premium over the Baleno as they offer a better warranty package than Maruti. Post-launch, it will rival other premium hatchbacks in the market, including the new 2022 Maruti Baleno, Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, and the Volkswagen Polo.
