India-bound 2023 Hyundai Verna — Top 5 Things To Know | V3Cars

The 2023 Hyundai Verna has been spied on test in South Korea multiple times. While Hyundai are expected to unveil the global version of the all-new Verna later this year, we expect Hyundai India to launch the sedan in early 2023. Here are the top 5 things you need to know about the 2023 Hyundai Verna.

2023 Hyundai Verna

New Hyundai Verna Gets An Elantra-Inspired Design

Based on the spy shots, we expect the 2023 Hyundai Verna to feature several design cues from its elder sibling, the Hyundai Elantra. The spy shots reveal a long and sleek bonnet that tapers towards the front end. A big grille and slim LED headlights are also visible.

The side profile seems to feature a prominent shoulder line and sharp creases on the doors. It also gets chrome trim under the windows, similar to the ones seen on the Hyundai i20 hatchback

The rear of the new Verna gets a coupe-like roofline with a tall boot opening. It is likely to feature wide tail lights that extend into the tailgate like before.

2023 Verna

Gets An Updated Cabin With A New Design

The 2023 Hyundai Verna will also offer updated interiors with better features. We can expect new additions like a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Hyundai’s connected car features called Bluelink. With the 2023 Verna, Hyundai could also offer a fully-digital LCD instrument cluster like in the Alcazar.

2023 Verna Will Retain Diesel Engine Option

The Hyundai Verna is one of two sedans in the segment that offer a diesel engine. Honda offer the City with a 1.5L diesel engine, albeit with a 5-speed manual transmission only. The Verna, on the other hand, comes with a 1.5L diesel engine and two transmission choices – a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter transmission.

Like the Venue, we expect Hyundai to offer the 2023 Verna with an auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT) option with the 1.5L normal petrol engine. And since Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus come with more powerful 1.5L turbo-petrol engines, we could also expect Hyundai to offer the new Verna with a 1.4L turbo petrol.

2023 Verna Will Offer More Cabin Space

The current-gen Verna is in the lower tier when it comes to interior space and comfort. Newer sedans like the Honda City, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus offer class-leading interior space thanks to longer wheelbases. Hence, we expect the 2023 Verna to grow in size significantly to offer better interior space for rear passengers.

New Verna Launch Timeline, Rivals And Expected Prices

As stated earlier, we expect Hyundai to reveal the 2023 Verna globally later this year. However, the India launch of the mid-sized sedan could take place in 2023, thanks in part to the long line of car launches from the Korean brand this year.

The 2023 Hyundai Verna will go up against the Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. With all the changes and new features, the 2023 Verna will cost considerably more than the current-gen Verna. Currently, the Hyundai Verna is priced from Rs. 9.32 lakh to Rs. 15.36 lakh ex-showroom.
