In this December 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all C-segment SUVs in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all C-segment SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.
C-Segment SUV December 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Among the high-volume cars from the category, the Creta was the top-selling SUV in the segment in December. Over 10,000 units of the Creta were produced in December 2022 compared to 7,609 units in December 2021, which is a growth of 34.12%.
- The Jeep Compass was the top losing car in the category with a YoY decline of 47%.
- Next in line in the top list of losers is the Skoda Kushaq with a 23% drop.
- Zero units of the Nissan Kicks were dispatched in December 2022.
- The Maruti S-Cross and Renault Duster were discontinued over the past 12 months.

C-Segment SUV December 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- Most C-segment SUVs saw a drop in sales in December.
- The Kia Seltos was the biggest loser with 35.43% decline in dispatches over November 2022.
- The other losers were MG ZS EV with 31.33% decline, Hyundai Creta with 23.39% decline and Jeep Compass with 12% decline in MoM comparison analysis.
- The Grand Vitara saw a 39.21% increase in dispatch numbers in the December MoM comparison, and became the top-performer.
- The Volkswagen Taigun was the second top gaining car in the category with 36% growth in MoM comparison in December. The Taigun was followed by the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder with 35% increase in MoM comparison.
- Other notable cars which saw a MoM growth in December are the MG Astor with 17.64% growth and Skoda Kushaq with about 9% growth in December over November of 2022.
