Kia India have delivered 71 specially modified Carens MPV to the Punjab Police. The modified Carens will function as Emergency Response Vehicles to provide immediate assistance to citizens during emergencies. The delivery of the Carens police vehicles also marks Kia India’s official entry into the purpose built vehicle (PBV) segment.

Kia had showcased 2 Carens PBVs – a police vehicle and an ambulance – at the 2023 Auto Expo. The Carens police vehicle is powered by Kia’s 1.5L normal petrol engine that produces 115PS of power and 144Nm of torque. It comes mated to a single transmission option – a 6-speed manual. The Carens PBV offers features like high-intensity strobe lights, PA system and a 60Ah battery to run to additional equipment. It is offered with a 7-seat configuration, featuring 60:40 split folding rear seats and a 50:50 split folding third row.
