Land Rover Defender 130 Now Gets A V8 And Stealthy Outbound Edition | V3Cars

Land Rover have added a V8 petrol powertrain to the Defender 130 3-row SUV. Apart from the launch of the Defender 130 V8, the carmaker also revealed a new Outbound edition of the Defender that is only available with the 5-seater configuration.

The Land Rover Defender 130 borrows its V8 engine from the Defender 90 and 110 models, albeit in a lower state of tune. The Defender 130 V8 petrol offers 500PS of power and 610Nm of torque. The engine transmits power to all 4 wheels via an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and enables this mammoth to sprint from a standstill to 100kmph in just 5.7 seconds. The Defender range could be the last Land Rover to pack the venerable 5.0L supercharged V8 engine as the newer models like the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have moved to the 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 supplied by BMW.

The Defender 130 Outbound edition offers an exclusive exterior paint along with other visual enhancements. However, it comes without the 3rd-row seating, resulting in a colossal luggage carrying capacity of 1329 litres, which can be further expanded to 2516 litres by folding the 2nd-row seats. It offers a range of exterior colours and interior upholstery options, depending on the usage of customers. The Defender 130 Outbound is only available with 3.0L turbo petrol and 3.0L turbo diesel engine options.

Land Rover Defender range, which includes the 90,110 and 130, in India is priced from Rs. 93 lakh to Rs. 2.29 crore (ex-showroom). The prices of the Defender 130 start from Rs. 1.30 crore and go up to Rs. 1.41 crore (ex-showroom). It is worth noting that Land Rover India are yet to reveal the prices of the Defender 130 V8, which is set to become the most expensive model in the Defender lineup so far.
