Here’s a quick old vs new comparison of upcoming Baleno 2026 engine specs and mileage with the older Baleno model. Do note that the mileage figures we have considered here are very close to the actual ARAI mileage numbers but not the exact figures. Maruti Suzuki will reveal the exact efficiency figures of the new Baleno facelift either closer to the launch or on the day of the launch (Sep 5, 2026). Let’s start this comparison with the Maruti Baleno petrol engine details.

2026 Maruti Baleno Petrol Engine Specs & Mileage Comparison — Old vs New Comparison
Compared to the outgoing Baleno, the new Baleno petrol engine will have 1 less combustion chambers, which will take away some of the refinement Maruti Suzuki cars are known for. So, you will feel some vibrations in the cabin, especially when starting up and as the engine warms up.
On the performance front, the new Baleno petrol will have 8PS less power and 1Nm lower torque output.
In terms of efficiency, though, the new Baleno facelift petrol seems to be moving in the right direction. Despite running on E20, the new Baleno will be able to deliver about 1.45kmpl better efficiency with the manual transmission and about 1.85kmpl improvement with the automatic over the outgoing model. This is shockingly good because the older Baleno was tested on E10, which has a higher energy density than E20. So, even with a fuel with lower calorific value, Maruti Suzuki engineers have managed to squeeze out superior efficiency with the new Baleno.
With the new Baleno CNG, you will get 1 less cylinder, which will transfer some of the engine vibrations to the cabin. The new engine also has a 7PS lower max power figure. However, the new 3-cylinder engine will deliver 3Nm higher torque output, which peaks at just 2900rpm. So, you should expect superior driveability with the new 2026 Baleno CNG.
On the efficiency front, the new Baleno CNG-manual powertrain will be able to deliver almost 10% improvement over the older 4-cylinder Baleno engine. Moreover, the addition of the AMT automatic option will open it up to a lot more customers, who, so far, only had Tata Motors cars to consider. With the CNG-AMT, the Baleno’s mileage figure will go up even higher as it is likely to deliver 1kmpkg higher mileage than the CNG-manual powertrain.
