In this May 2022 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all sedans in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all sedans for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.

Sedans Segment May 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

The Dzire maintains its top spot among sedans in May 2022 and is still the only sedan with 5-figure dispatches
Among the sedans, the Slavia and Vitus’s sales figures suggest that the customers are willing to buy a sedan if they offer a fresh design, road presence and a comparable feature list.
The Slavia sits in second place in May in C-segment sales after the City regained its top spot among C-segment sedans.
The 5th gen City is a fairly fresh product, which went on sale just 2 years ago. The City’s D-segment-like length and road presence helped it limit its losses as its sales declined only 26.5% in April YoY after the Slavia’s launch which rose by 216% in May 2022 YoY.
Among the smaller sedans, the Tigor, Amaze and Xcent-Aura siblings delivered YoY gains last month.
The only loser was Octavia reporting a 27.5% decline in dispatches, while all others reported a gain over the low numbers of COVID struck May 2021 figures, not considering Vento because it is on its way out

Sedan Segment May 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change

Almost all sedans reported a growth in MoM sales and the Verna led the pack of top MoM gainers with a 90.5% rise in dispatches (excluding low-volume E-Verito and Vento, which will soon exit the showrooms)
Among the few MoM losers, the Octavia is at the top with a 49.6% decline
