In this October 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all sedans in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all sedans for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.
Sedans October 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- The Dzire maintained its top spot among sedans in October 2022.
- It looks like even in the foreseeable future, the Dzire will remain the only sedan to achieve a 5-figure monthly sales figure.
- Among the smaller sedans, the Tigor witnessed a 190% YoY gain, making it the top gainer.
- The Amaze and Ciaz were the second and third best gainers with 81% and 76% YoY gains in October, respectively.
- All mass-market cars saw an increase in dispatch numbers in YoY comparison for the month of October, except Hyundai Verna and Honda City, which saw an YoY drop of 10% in October comparison.
- Premium sedans like Skoda Octavia and Superb, too, saw a YoY decline, 43% for each.
- Hyundai Elantra, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid were discontinued over the past year by their respective manufacturers.

Sedan Segment October 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- Most sedans saw a growth in their sales numbers in the month of October over September
- Volkswagen Virtus was the overall top loser in October MoM comparison, with a decline of 46%
- Among the MoM gainers, the Slavia was at the top with a 47% rise; Ciaz in second spot with 38.63% rise; and Amaze in third place with 33.34% rise in October of 2022
