September 2026 is set to be a busy month for the Indian car market, with manufacturers preparing to introduce new models as well as updates to existing cars. The month will see the arrival of the Kia Sorento SUV, while Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors are expected to introduce updates to 2 of their popular models.

Renault are also expected to introduce the long-awaited turbo petrol version of the Triber, with a CNG variant potentially joining the lineup as well. In addition, several premium luxury cars from BMW and Porsche are scheduled to arrive this month.
Here’s a look at the most important upcoming car launches in September 2026.

Kia are set to launch the Sorento in India on September 4, 2026. The premium 3-row SUV will mark Kia’s entry into the D2-segment above the Seltos and below the Carnival.
The Sorento will be offered with both hybrid and diesel powertrain options. The hybrid version will use a 1.6L turbo petrol strong-hybrid powertrain with all-wheel drive (AWD), while the diesel variants will use a 2.2L turbo diesel engine. The top-spec diesel variants will also offer AWD.
The Sorento will be locally manufactured at Kia’s Anantapur facility and will feature a premium cabin with 3-row seating, panoramic sunroof, dual digital displays, connected car technology and Level 2 ADAS.
Kia have also confirmed that the India-spec Sorento will introduce the brand’s AI assistant powered by live generative AI. This will make the Sorento the first Kia globally to feature the technology.
The Sorento will rival premium 3-row SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron.

Maruti Suzuki are expected to launch the updated Baleno around September 5 or 6, 2026. The premium hatchback has been on sale for several years and is now due for a more comprehensive update.
Apart from a revised exterior design, the Baleno facelift will offer a list of changes and updates such as the introduction of the 1.2L 3-cylinder normal petrol engine from the Swift, CNG with AMT option, and more

Tata Motors are expected to introduce updates to the Curvv and Curvv EV in September. The company has sent V3Cars an invite for a preview of the 2026 Curvv and Curvv EV, which is scheduled to be held in the first week of September, suggesting that an announcement or product update is likely around these dates.
The Curvv and Curvv EV were launched in India in 2024, meaning the models will complete 2 years on the market this year. This timing has led us to expect that Tata Motors could introduce a more substantial model update or facelift. We expect the u[dated Curvv models to borrow features that were recently introduced in the Nexon Camo edition, including a larger touchscreen infotainment system.

The Curvv is currently available with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains. The upcoming update could focus on styling, features and variant packaging. More details are expected soon.

Renault are expected to introduce the much-awaited turbo petrol variants of the Triber soon. The MPV was spotted with a ‘Turbo’ badge on the tailgate recently. The upcoming Triber Turbo is expected to use Renault’s 1L 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which produces 100PS and 160Nm in the Kiger and Nissan Magnite. This should provide a significant improvement in performance over the Triber’s existing normal petrol engine.
The turbo-petrol engine is expected to be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options, with a CVT likely to join the lineup. Renault are also working on a factory-fitted CNG version of the Triber. The CNG variant is expected to use twin cylinders mounted underneath the boot floor to minimise the impact on boot space.
We expect Renault to introduce the turbo version in the second half of September, although the exact launch date is yet to be announced.

September will also see the arrival of a few premium luxury cars in India. BMW are scheduled to launch the updated 7 Series and i7 on September 11, while Porsche are expected to introduce the Cayenne Electric on September 30.
The BMW 7 Series and i7 will continue to cater to the luxury sedan segment, with the i7 offering a fully electric alternative to the conventional 7 Series. Meanwhile, the Cayenne Electric will expand Porsche’s electric SUV portfolio in India.

We will update this list as manufacturers announce additional launches and confirm the exact details of the upcoming models.
