Volkswagen India have teased a new and potentially more affordable variant of the Tayron SUV ahead of its launch on July 10. Currently, the Tayron is available in India in a single, fully-loaded R-Line variant. The upcoming Tayron variant is expected to retain the same 2.0L turbo petrol engine and all-wheel drive system while offering a few cosmetic changes.

Although Volkswagen have not revealed the complete exterior, the teaser confirms several styling elements carried over from the Tayron R-Line.
Up front, the SUV continues to feature sleek LED headlamps connected by an illuminated light bar with a lit Volkswagen logo in the centre. However, the front bumper and grille are expected to receive a simpler design than the sportier R-Line model. The rear bumper design is also expected to differ from the R-Line variant.

Other visible exterior highlights include:

The teaser suggests Volkswagen have retained the Tayron's modern dashboard layout. The SUV features a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster similar to the R-Line.
Unlike the all-black interior offered in the R-Line, the new variant gets a lighter dual-tone upholstery, giving the cabin a brighter appearance.
Visible features include:

Volkswagen are likely to remove some premium features from this variant in order to position it below the R-Line.
The lower-spec Tayron is expected to use the same 2L turbo petrol engine offered in the R-Line variant:
The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending power to all 4 wheels via Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
Toyota are set to launch the 2026 Hilux in India later this month. The new-generation Hilux brings a comprehensive design refresh and several feature upgrades. While the new Hilux retains its proved ladder-frame platform and diesel powertrain, buyers can expect a more premium cabin and several updated features.
In this article, we take a look at the expected features, powertrain specifications and other details of the Toyota Hilux 2026.
Since this new Tayron variant is expected to be positioned below the R-Line, it is likely to carry a lower price than the current R-Line variant, which is priced at Rs. 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Once launched, the Volkswagen Tayron will continue to rival premium three-row SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and Toyota Fortuner.
