The Hyundai Bayon HX8 CVT costs Rs. 35,100 less than the Honda Elevate ZX CVT. Both SUVs get ventilated front seats, CVT automatics and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. The Bayon also offers a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver seat and a 360-degree camera. The facelifted Elevate ZX counters with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow. We compare their features, engines, fuel costs and practicality to help you choose.

The HX8 sits below the Bayon’s top HX10 variant. Similarly, the Elevate ZX sits below the ZX Plus. Here are their ex-showroom prices:
*The Bayon’s price is introductory.
The Hyundai Bayon and Honda Elevate overlap at this budget, but the HX8 CVT and ZX CVT offer different mixes of parking, comfort and driver assistance features.
Both SUVs cover several everyday requirements. Their shared equipment includes ventilated front seats, auto AC, wireless smartphone connectivity and an electronic parking brake.
The following table lists their main common features:
Here are the main equipment differences between the 2 SUVs:
The Bayon’s 360-degree camera and additional parking sensors should help when manoeuvring through tight spaces. Its powered driver seat offers more adjustment convenience, while the panoramic sunroof provides a larger glass area.
The Elevate’s main advantage is its driver assistance package. Adaptive cruise control adjusts speed to follow the vehicle ahead, with low-speed follow extending its operation to slow-moving traffic. The package also includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, road-departure mitigation, automatic high beam and a lead-vehicle departure alert.
The Honda’s LaneWatch camera shows the area beside the left side of the SUV when changing lanes. The Elevate ZX already gets ventilated front seats. However, powered front seats, ventilated rear seats, a 360-degree camera and front parking sensors require the more expensive ZX Plus.
Both SUVs use a 1.5L 4-cylinder non-turbo petrol engine paired with a CVT automatic. Their engine specifications and claimed mileage figures are listed below:
The Elevate produces 6PS more power, while peak torque is almost identical. Both engines reach their peak torque above 4000rpm, so their CVTs will need to raise engine speeds when stronger acceleration is required.
The Bayon has a clearer advantage in claimed fuel efficiency. Its figure is 1.99kmpl higher, translating to roughly 11 percent less petrol consumption over the same distance.
The table below uses Delhi’s petrol price of Rs. 102.12 per litre on October 30, 2026, and the claimed mileage of each SUV.
Costs and savings are rounded independently to the nearest rupee. Actual fuel costs depend on the mileage you achieve.
At 1,500km per month, the estimated saving works out to around Rs. 11,800 per year. The Bayon’s lower estimated fuel expense adds to its Rs. 35,100 purchase-price advantage.
These calculations compare fuel expenses. They don’t establish total ownership costs, which also depend on servicing, insurance and other expenses.
The Elevate is longer and taller, while the Bayon is slightly wider. Here are their dimensions and other practicality details:
#Hyundai claim a 505L boot capacity for the Bayon with no spare tyre fitted. The HX8 CVT comes with a spare tyre, and Hyundai have not published its boot capacity separately.
The Bayon’s shorter body and additional parking cameras and sensors should help in confined parking spaces. The Elevate’s higher quoted ground clearance is worth considering if your regular routes include tall speed breakers or uneven surfaces.
Neither the Bayon nor the Elevate have been crash tested by Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP. Hyundai describes the Bayon as engineered for 5-star Indian safety standards.
Their standard warranty coverage is identical:
If you plan to drive more on the highway, our pick is the Elevate ZX CVT. Its Rs. 35,100 premium brings adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance. It retains several everyday comforts shared with the Bayon, including ventilated front seats, auto AC and a wireless charger. An auto-dimming mirror, larger colour MID and additional tweeters further strengthen its equipment package.
For city use, we would choose the Bayon HX8 CVT. Its 360-degree camera, front and side parking sensors and shorter body should make manoeuvring easier. The powered driver seat and panoramic sunroof add comfort and convenience, while the lower purchase price and estimated fuel expense help contain costs.
If ADAS isn’t a priority, the Bayon’s parking equipment, convenience features and lower costs make it the better-value choice in this pairing.
