German luxury automaker BMW has launched the all new BMW X3 in India at a price of Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The luxury automaker has offered the petrol version in the BMW X3 xDrive30i Luxury line and is now open for bookings across all BMW dealerships across India. BMW had first revealed the all new BMW X3 in India at the Auto Expo 2018, and launched the diesel version for Rs 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the xDrive 20d Expedition version and Rs 56.70 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the xDrive 20d Luxury Line, few months later.
Speaking at the launch, Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, "The BMW X range is a pioneer in the Sports Activity Vehicle segment. The BMW X3 has been extremely successful as it combines supreme SAV characteristics with comfort and everyday suitability. With the launch of the all-new BMW X3 xDrive30i, now our customers can also experience unadulterated driving pleasure in a refined petrol engine option. With cutting-edge BMW TwinPower Turbo technology is at its core, this engine spells power and performance. The xDrive technology in the BMW X3 ensures unhindered progress, not only when travelling along rutted gravel or sand tracks, over churned-up ground or in deep mud, but also on city roads with high speed bumps."
To be assembled at the BMW’s Chennai plant like the diesel version, the newly launched petrol powered BMW X3 gets the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine capable of producing 250 bhp of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-Speed automatic Steptronic sport transmission and is also available with steering wheel paddle shifters. The petrol powered BMW X3 can reach 0-100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds and has been offered with an all-wheel-drive system, which monitors the driving situation constantly and responds quickly and accordingly. The X3 Petrol also gets Adaptive suspensions, electronically controlled 'Automatic Differential Brakes/locks (ADB-X)', extended 'Dynamic Traction control (DTC)', Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.
Other than this, BMW Efficient Dynamics also features Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode, Brake-Energy Regeneration, Electronic Power Steering, 50:50 Weight Distribution and several other innovative technologies. Different driving modes such as ECOPRO, COMFORT, SPORT, and SPORT+ have also been offered with the petrol powered BMW X3.
In terms of design and styling the newly launched petrol powered BMW X3 in India the chrome radiator grille bars, two-tone underbody protection in frozen grey matt with chrome trim, air-breather in chrome and classically designed 19-inch light-alloy wheels at the exterior. At the inside, the luxurious SUV features leather upholstery in Vernasca, a Sensatec-covered instrument panel with contrast stitching and Fine-wood trim in poplar grain grey along with the sixth generation iDrive infotainment system, with touchscreen and voice controls. Other features include smartphone integration with options of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard. Other features include the Harmon Kardon 600 watt audio system, BMW ConnectedDrive, Automatic Differential Brakes, Dynamic Traction Control and Adaptive suspension. The X logo in chrome by BMW has also been located on the doors and the centre console.
Talking about the safety features, the SUV comes loaded with six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting and integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor. In terms of competition, the the BMW X3 xDrive 30i lock horns with the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic, the Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE and the hybrid Lexus NX 300h in the Indian market.
