Force Motors are likely to extend the Gurkha family with a new 5-door pick-up. Force are already working on the Gurkha 5-door, which will rival the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Thar 5-door. The Gurkha pick-up uses the body of the Gurkha and adds rear doors and an open cargo space. It continues to get design elements from the Gurkha, which include LED headlights with DRLs, a snorkel and dual-tone alloy wheels.

The images suggest that the Gurkha pick-up could offer more ground clearance than the Gurkha 3-door thanks to a beefier rear suspension. The Gurkha pick-up is likely to offer more payload capacity than the Gurkha as well thanks to the inclusion of a flatbed. It remains to be seen whether Force Motors will market the Gurkha pick-up as a commercial vehicle to rival the Bolero pick-up or as a lifestyle pickup like the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.

SInce the details about the Gurkha pick-up are scarce, we do not know which engine-gearbox combination will power this 5-door pick-up. The Gurkha 3-door currently comes with a 2.6L 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 91PS of power at 3200rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1400rpm and 2400rpm. It comes with a manual transmission only.

However, Force are yet to launch the BS6 phase-2 and road driving emission-compliant Gurkha in the country. A few rumours suggest that Force may introduce a more powerful version of the Gurkha to have an upper hand against its competition. We could also expect the updated Gurkha to offer an automatic transmission option. Force could introduce the updated Gurkha in the coming weeks, followed by the launch of the Gurkha 5 door and pick-up.
