MG Majestor Spotted — Launch Timeline Still Unclear | V3Cars
We recently managed to get our hands on images of the MG Majestor almost a year after it was first revealed to the public at the 2025 Auto Expo. According to the person who spotted the car, it was parked without any camouflage but the interiors were fully covered. The car appeared to be parked on a dealer property for a good while with some dust accumulating on the exteriors. This suggests that it is neither in regular use for testing nor are they interested in covering up the car ahead of the official launch.
Considering that it has been almost a year since its reveal, MG have remained silent about the Majestor. Moreover, it’s not like an all-new car requiring a lot of R&D or testing. Underneath, the Majestor is basically the Gloster as it will not only borrow the platform from the Gloster but also its engine, transmission and drivetrain.
MG could have even called it the 2026 Gloster facelift but the Gloster brand itself failed to gain momentum in the Indian market. So, MG may be looking to either add another car in the similar price band or replace the Foster entirely with the Majestor.
Mechanically, you expect the car to borrow the same 2.0L twin turbo diesel engine with an 8-speed torque converter making 479Nm of torque between 1500 and 2400rpm while churning out 216PS of power. This engine gets the 4-wheel drivetrain as well.
Given the typical Indian buyer’s preference for bigger, bulkier cars with SUV styling and immense road presence regardless of the underlying mechanicals, we may even see MG Majestor get the less powerful 2.0L turbo diesel engine. It’s plenty punchy, but it will make the car somewhat more affordable as it doesn’t get 4WD and has a single turbo. This engine in the Gloster makes 161PS of power and 374Nm of torque between 1500 and 2400rpm. This one also gets an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
MG Majestor Price Expectations
The Gloster starts at Rs. 38.33 lakh and goes up to Rs. 43.17 lakh. However, we have routinely seen the Gloster getting huge discounts going as high at Rs. 6.50 lakh. So, we may see MG fix the pricing issue with the Majestor right from the start. Or, MG may choose to position the Majestor a notch above the Gloster. Or, MG may reposition the Gloster to its acceptable market price and position the Majestor where the Gloster sits right now.
Either way, given the 3 possibilities, in addition to the lack of confidence about whether the Majestor will even go on sale in India or not, we will refrain from estimating the price of the car. This is one rare case where we just can’t put our finger on the pulse about a reasonably tight expected price range for the Majestor.
However, if you have to force an answer out of us anyways, then we’d have to give you a wide price band of Rs. 35.0 lakh to Rs. 46.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG Majestor Launch Timeline Estimate
We have not seen the MG Majestor testing on public roads since it once flooded the WWW around March and April 2025. We heard anything from MG about the SUV since they revealed it at the Auto Expo 2025. There aren't even any rumours around the car since its first showcase at the auto show.
Moreover, the report from the spotter suggests that there was no attempt to hide it from prying eyes and it wasn’t kept in a clean condition further suggests that there are no immediate plans to launch the car. In fact, it’s also possible that they may be revisiting the thought of bringing the Majestor to the Indian market.
The Majestor didn’t need a significant R&D effort to bring to market, it should have gone on sale by now. But it hasn’t. Hence, once again, in this rare case, we can’t even predict a tentative launch timeline for the car.
