2022 Baleno - 9.0-inch Touchscreen Infotainment Teased; Gets Arkamys Sound | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki have released another teaser for the upcoming Baleno facelift. This time, it reveals a new touchscreen infotainment system. The touchscreen seen on the teaser video is a 9-inch free-standing unit placed at the top of the dashboard. The new Baleno will also feature Arkamys surround sound system in the top-spec variants.

Maruti have named the new infotainment system ‘SmartPlay Pro+’. The older system was called ‘SmartPlay’. The new touchscreen is bigger than the older one by 2-inches. We expect the new system to support wireless phone connectivity options. Illuminated media control and quick-access buttons, including voice control, are placed at the bottom of the screen. Based on the video, they seem to be touch-sensitive buttons.

Maruti have also updated the dashboard layout of the 2022 Baleno. It now features a layered design. The AC vents are more angular this time around and are placed below the screen. The interior will also get a dual-tone theme. Overall, we think that the interior could resemble the new S-Cross launched in Europe.

Earlier, Maruti teased the new Baleno’s head-up display, which is a first in the segment. We expect the carmaker to add a few additional features in the new Baleno, such as connected car technology, rear armrest, rear AC vents, and cruise control.

The 2022 Baleno will carry forward the 1.2L normal petrol engine. It produces 90PS of power and 113Nm of torque. We expect Maruti to offer it with the option of a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT instead of the earlier CVT.  With the new changes and added features, we expect Maruti Suzuki to hike prices of the new Baleno by Rs. 50,000. Meanwhile, bookings are open for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The 2022 Maruti Baleno is expected to be launched on February 23.
