The upcoming new Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class SUV has been again spied testing recently. The luxury SUV is apparently doing extreme weather testing, as it has been caught testing in snowy terrains. The vehicle seems to be getting close to its production version, as it has been spotted this time around with production-ready headights.
The new Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class is a B-Class based compact SUV model and is still in its development stages and has been getting caught doing its test round wearing very heavy camouflages. Nevertheless, even from under the veils the vehicle’s new LED projector headlights as well as the LED daytime running lights can be visibly ascertained in the latest spy pictures. The new SUV’s tail lights are also production ready units. These new LED lamps for the rear lighting seem to be quite different from the ones that are usually see on the various SUV models from the house of this German luxury car maker.
The most recently caught test prototype of the Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class SUV was clad in thick veils as already mentioned. It not only wears camouflages, but also decoy body cladding in order to keep its overall design language and even the actual silhouette a secret from the spying cameras. However, despite all these attempts, the real silhouette of this new Merc SUV has began to show, and from whatever can be figured out as yet, it is evident that Mercedes-Benz is sticking to the true SUV design for this model, meaning a nice and rugged overall boxy styling. The most recently caught test prototype model flaunted a different set of alloy wheels from the ones that were seen on the previously spotted test model. However, even this set of alloys might not make it to the final production version of the will be different. When size is concerned, the new SUV seems to be just a tad smaller than the GLC, and Mercedes might be offering this SUV with a 7-seat configuration option.
When the cabin of the new upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class is concerned, there are still no concrete details, as the cabin has been sealed so far and there has been no speak-peek on inside of any testing prototype model of the SUV. However, as the new GLB-Class is based on the same MFA2 platform which also underpins the A-Class and the B-Class, it is thought that might has a cabin design that is reminiscent of that of the new generation A-Class’.
The under the hood mechanical bits are yet not confirmed. Nevertheless, the rumour mills are always churning, and as per speculations the new Mercedes-Benz GLB SUV would be sharing the same engine range with that of the new-gen A-Class. However, it is also possible for the SUV to get its own range of new engines which Mercedes have developed in collaboration with the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The GLB-Class is also likely to boast of a new electronically controlled AWD system, but all these details are currently based on speculations. The Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class production version is expected to be introduced in early 2019.
