Arkana Likely To Share CMF-B Platform With 3rd-Gen Duster

Renault are likely to heavily localise the CMF-B platform for the Indian market. This localised platform will underpin a range of SUVs. While the first SUV is rumoured to be the 3rd-gen Renault Duster, the other could be the Arkana. The Arkana boasts a coupe-inspired roofline and is offered in multiple global markets. Since the Arkana also sits on the CMF-B platform, it could be under consideration for the Indian market, given that it has been spied on our roads multiple times.

Arkana Could Debut Renault’s Strong Hybrid Powertrain

In recent times, mass-segment carmakers such as Honda, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki have launched products with the option of a strong hybrid powertrain. The launch of the City hybrid, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder suggest that there is potential for strong hybrid powertrains in the country.

Hence, Renault could also offer their strong hybrid powertrain option with their upcoming range of SUVs. Currently, Renault offer the Arkana with a strong hybrid version in multiple global markets. It comes with a 1.6L petrol engine and a 1.2kWh battery, which powers 2 electric motors. The engine and motor combined produces 145PS of power. The engine offers 148Nm of torque whereas the motor offers a torque output of 250Nm.

The Arkana hybrid follows a coupe SUV design language, similar to the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. It measures 4568mm long, 2034mm wide, 1576mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2720mm. The coupe SUV features LED headlights with C-shaped LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels, and LED tail lights.

If the Arkana is launched in the Indian market, it will become the most-accessible SUV to boast a coupe body style. Tata Motors have also announced the launch timeline of the Curvv Coupe SUV, which will be offered with both ICE and EV powertrain options.
