In this article, we’ll estimate the launch timeline for the Tata Curvv EV, which they showcased in April 2022. At the reveal event, Tata officials also conveyed that the Curvv EV will go on sale “within next 2 years.” The other titbit they revealed was that the Curvv EV will also have a petrol/diesel sibling and that the EV will go on sale before the petrol/diesel model.

Tata Curvv EV Launch Timeline - With Logic

At the 2023 Auto Expo, Tata Motors showcased the Curvv petrol/diesel and revealed that it’ll go on sale in 2024. A simple math makes the Curvv EV a likely candidate for launch around late 2023 or early 2024. This timeline not only meets their “within the next 2 years” from reveal date criteria. This schedule also gives the Curvv petrol/diesel enough time before launch so as to not steal the Curvv EV’s thunder. Both of these cars (Curvv petrol and Curvv EV) are very important for Tata Motors and it’s critical for Tata Motors to space out their launches for maximum impact through word or mouth.

Tata Motors also have somewhat of a tradition to launch vehicles around the new year. The Altroz first launched in Feb 2020 along with the Tiago and Tigor facelift. The Nexon facelift launched in Jan 2020. So, a couple of months before or after the 2024 new year seems like an appropriate timeline for the Curvv EV to go on sale.

More Details About Curvv EV

The Curvv EV uses Tata’s newer Gen-2 EV platform and will become the first car on this platform. At the Auto Expo, Tata conveyed that the Gen-2 platform will bring longer range and faster charging times. Current Tata EVs are capable of up to 50kW DC fast charging.

In terms of range, the Tata Nexon EV launched with 300km+ range while the EV Max comfortably broke the 400km barrier. For the Curvv EV, we’re expecting a range of 500 - 550km and at least 100kW DC fast charging capabilities.
