Toyota have introduced a safety update to the Innova Hycross hybrid MPV, incorporating a pedestrian alert system called Acoustic Vehicle Alert System, or AVAS. This feature is designed to enhance pedestrian safety and is now offered as standard across all hybrid variants of the 2025 Innova Hycross.

AVAS, or Acoustic Vehicle Alert System, is a technology that emits a low-frequency sound at low speeds, alerting pedestrians and other road users to the presence of the vehicle. This is particularly important for hybrid and electric vehicles, which operate silently in electric mode, potentially posing a safety risk to unsuspecting pedestrians.
The AVAS feature is exclusively available on the strong-hybrid variants of the Toyota Innova Hycross, namely the VX, VX(O), ZX, and ZX(O) models. This aligns with the MPV’s hybrid powertrain, which allows for near-silent electric operation at lower speeds.

The Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid is powered by a 2.0L petrol engine coupled with an electric motor and e-CVT transmission. The combined power output is 186PS of power and 206Nm of torque, and the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency is 21.10kmpl.
