Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition Launched To Mark End Of Production | V3Cars

Volkswagen India have launched the Polo GT TSI Legend Edition to mark the end of the hatchback’s production. The Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition is offered in a single GT TSI variant, priced at Rs. 10.25 lakh ex-showroom.

The Volkswagen Polo has been on sale for well over 12 years in India and received multiple powertrain changes throughout its lifecycle. The new limited edition marks the end of the current-gen Polo in the Indian market and there are no plans to launch the 6th-generation Polo in India.

The Polo Legend Edition gets ‘Legend’ badging on the fenders and boot lid. Other additions include a black decals on the lower half of the doors and a black roof. 

Mechanically, the Polo Legend Edition is similar to the Polo GT TSI. It gets a 1.0L turbo petrol engine with 110PS of power at 5000rpm and 175Nm of torque between 1750rpm and 4000rpm. The turbo petrol motor is offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

VW India launched the Polo back in 2010 with a 1.2L petrol and diesel engine options. Over the course of 12 years, the Polo received 1.6L petrol, 1.6L turbo diesel, 1.5L turbo diesel, 1.2L turbo petrol, 1.8L turbo petrol, 1.0L normal petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engine options. The Volkswagen Polo was also one of the most accessible and sought-after hatchback with a dual-clutch transmission. The Volkswagen Polo enjoys a cult status even today and continues to lead the affordable hot hatchback segment.

VW Polo Legend Edition

As for the future, VW India are set to launch the Virtus mid-sized sedan soon. The Virtus shares its MQB-A0 IN platform with the Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia. VW have ruled out the 6th-gen Polo for India. However, the German marque could consider bringing the Polo GTI as a limited CBU import.
