What Are The Pros And Cons Of The 2025 Tata Harrier EV?
The pros or advantages of Tata Harrier EV 2025 are:
- Conventional styling will attract buyers who don’t want a loud electric car
- Panel and certain part sharing with the Harrier diesel will make it easier to find spares should you need them several years down the line
- The Harrier EV is the most affordable electric car with 4WD capabilities (and the only one in Tata’s portfolio)
- Respectable battery size options (65kWh & 75kWh) for a large SUV of this size
- 504Nm of peak torque & 6.3 seconds from the 4WD variant makes it quite fun and versatile car for on-road as well as off-road driving
- RWD should offer a relatively smooth ownership experience given Tata’s expertise in making electric cars in India
- Option of larger battery pack in mid variant makes it easier for buyers to get longer range without paying for the features they might find unnecessary; Mahindra reserve the larger battery pack for the top trim only
- Most of the variants offer good value for money, which is something we don’t usually get to say about Tata cars
The 2025 Tata Harrier EV has the following shortcomings or problems:
- Tata haven’t announced the ground clearance details of the Harrier EV, which suggests that it may not be very impressive
- 4WD is new tech for maas market car in india expect bugs
- 6-month service interval will make it quite an expensive car to maintain; not to mention the hassle of having the car visit the service centre every 6 months
- 315Nm of torque from RWD variants is not very impressive when Mahindra are offering 380Nm right from the BE 6 base trim
- ADAS hardware is not at the level of Mahindra EVs’
- Lifetime warranty is only up to 15 years or 2,00,000km
- Replacing the 3.3kW home charger with the 7.2kW option will cost you Rs. 50,000, which comes across as obscenely overpriced as you can find even 11kW chargers from reputable brands for under Rs. 40,000
What Is The Price Of Tata Harrier EV Variants?
The Tata Harrier EV is available in 3 main variants — Adventure, Fearless Plus and Empowered. The base Adventure trim is only available with the smaller 65kWh battery pack and it costs Rs. 21.49 lakh with the 3.3kW home charger. You can also buy it with a panoramic sunroof and a few extra features in the derivative Adventure S trim for an additional Rs. 50,000.
Fearless Plus variant gets 2 battery pack options costing Rs. 23.99 lakh and Rs. 24.99 lakh, respectively. Finally, the top spec Empowered variant costs Rs. 27.49 lakh and it’s only available with the larger 75kWh battery pack.
The 4WD variant’s price is not available at the time of publishing this article but we expect it to cost Rs. 2.50 lakh more than Empowered RWD.

7.2kW ACFC (Home Charger) Go Or No Go — Buying Recommendation
Please note that you can get a faster, 7.2kW home charger instead of a 3.3kW home charger for an additional Rs. 50,000. We strongly suggest you skip this option as it’s offering pathetic value for money. You can buy a 7.2kW home charger from reputable brands for Rs. 30,000 - 40,000 without giving up the slower 3.3kW home charger. So, you can install them both at 2 different locations. Moreover, the upgrade from 7.2kW to 11kW home charger is only Rs. 5,000 or so. Hence, you can buy a significantly more powerful 11kW home charger for less price than the 7.2kW one from Tata without giving up the 3.3kW charger.
Excluding the charger price from the ex-showroom price helps with lowering the car’s insurance cost and also registration if your state requires you to pay a certain percentage of the ex-showroom price for the RC.
Tata Harrier EV Adventure 65 — Base Model Standard Features
The base model of the Tata Harrier EV Adventure base model is only available with the smaller, 65kWh battery pack and costs Rs. 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The most notable features of the Adventure 65 base model are:

Considering the price and segment of the Harrier EV base trim, you may miss the following features:
- Front parking sensors
- Rear armrest
- Rear window sunshades
- Rear defogger
- Cooled storage
- Auto headlamps
- Auto wipers
While this variant is satisfactorily loaded, the higher, Adventure S variant offers a bunch of features for a mouthwatering incremental cost of just Rs. 50,000. The value quotient of the Adventure S is just too difficult to ignore even if you don’t like a glass roof. So, the base variant of the Harrier EV is not recommended.
2025 Tata Harrier EV Adventure 65 vs Adventure S 65 Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
The Adventure S variant also gets the same battery option and costs Rs. 21.99 lakh. This price is only Rs. 50,000 more than the base model.

This variant takes care of some of the must-have features and offers a tremendous value for money. It gets features worth about 83% more than what you’re paying for the S variant over the base trim. This is a solid choice for budget conscious buyers and an easy recommendation.
Tata Harrier EV Adventure S 65 vs Fearless Plus 65, 75 Variants — Price, Feature Comparison
The Fearless Plus variant with the smaller battery pack costs Rs. 23.99 lakh, which is Rs. 2.0 lakh more than the lower variant. It also adds the option of a larger, 75kWh battery pack for an additional Rs. 1.0 lakh.

In the Fearless Plus variant of the Harrier EV, you will mostly just miss the ADAS features, which are exclusive to the Empowered 75 variant. Otherwise, this variant is quite well loaded for the asking price.
If the Fearless Plus variant has the features to satisfy your needs, then we strongly suggest you buy it with the larger battery pack. The Rs. 1.0 lakh price difference is not much and with a bigger battery pack, your vehicle will feel more future proof. They both are completely worth the incremental price over the base variant. For offering a balanced mix of features and a good value for money, the Fearless Plus 75 earns our top recommendation.
Tata Harrier EV Fearless Plus 75 vs Empowered 75 Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
The Empowered top model is only available with the larger 75kWh battery pack option and costs Rs. 2.50 lakh more than the lower Fearless Plus 75 variant. With the rear-wheel drivetrain, the Empowered 75 costs Rs. 27.49 lakh. Here, you also have the option of buying it with 4WD but Tata haven’t revealed the exact pricing for the top model yet. We expect it to cost Rs. 29.99 lakh, which is Rs. 2.50 lakh more than the Empowered RWD.

The Harrier EV Empowered variant is quite well loaded for the asking price and segment of the car. Unless you consider the super loaded Mahindra EVs, you’re unlikely to miss anything in the top model of the Harrier EV.
If you have come this far and are thinking about the Empowered 75 variant, then, we will strongly advise you to spend a bit more and go all the way for the 4WD. Considering our expected price, we believe it will completely justify the incremental cost over the base variant with all the additional features and performance. Moreover, the Empowered 75 RWD is the least value for money variant in the entire Harrier EV lineup. So, the Empowered 4WD is an easier recommendation.
Which Variant Of The Tata Harrier EV Should You Buy?
We advise Harrier EV buyers to skip the base model and buy at least the Adventure S variant. It adds a panoramic sunroof and a few extra features for not a lot of money. At this price, even I wouldn’t mind paying for a sunroof. This is also the most value for money variant among all.
From there, the Fearless Plus 65 and 75, both offer similar value for money and they both justify the incremental cost over the base trim. However, if you’re spending Rs. 24.0 lakh (ex-sh), then you may as well spend another Rs. 1.0 lakh and get it with the larger battery pack. This will make your vehicle more future proof. Even if you don’t need that extra range battery today, you may need it later during the ownership. And the reasonable Rs. 1.0 lakh price premium is totally justified here.
If you’re interested in more high-end features, then we will suggest you skip the Empowered 75 RWD variant. We expect the 4WD to cost Rs. 30.0 lakh and at that price, the 4WD variant will make for a far better deal. Besides the 4WD capability, it gets you a few extra features, more power and more torque. And it fully justifies the incremental cost over the base trim. Unless Tata price the Harrier EV 4WD much higher than Rs. 30.0 lakh, this is the variant to buy.
What Are The Powertrain Specifications Of The Tata Harrier EV?
In terms of the specifications, the Harrier EV offers 2 battery configurations — 65kWh and 75kWh. The Harrier EV 65 has a larger battery pack than the small battery variants of the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The RWD variants of the Harrier EV have 238PS of power, which is on par with the Mahindra EVs. However, Harrier EV’s torque output of 315Nm is much less than the Mahindra EVs’, which have 380Nm torque.
The Harrier EV makes up for this with the dual-motor 4WD, which has a peak torque of 504Nm with the help of a 158PS front motor.
In terms of claimed range and efficiency, the BE 6 and 9e have higher figures of more than 9kmpu. This time around, Tata’s claims seem not so outrageous at just above 8kmpu. However, the Mahindra EVs also have a more aerodynamic body and possibly EV-spec frame design, which is lighter.
Hence, in real world driving, we expect a mileage of around 5.5kmpu from the Harrier EV with a range of 400km and 450km from the smaller and larger battery pack, respectively. With the Mahindra EVs, the weight difference is significant between the 59kWh and 79kWh variants. So, we expect their larger battery pack variants to have a range of around 400km to 490km depending on the model and battery option. In terms of efficiency, these figures are around 5.5kmpu — not too far from what we are expecting with the Harrier EV.
Do note that the realistic mileage figures take into account the 11% transmission losses that happen while charging the vehicle. Also, we take the realistic range you’ll be able to get with you pushing the car a bit out of its comfort zone and enjoying it but not necessarily driving it like a maniac all the time.

What Are The Dimensions Of The Tata Harrier EV?
The Harrier EV is big but not XEV 9e big. It’s about as wide as the 9e, though. Tata haven’t announced the ground clearance figure for the Harrier EV, which leads us to believe that it’s a bit low — not embarrassingly low, but much lower than the Mahindra EVs. Despite its large front, the Harrier EV only gets a 67 litre front boot while the 9e has 150 litres of cargo volume; more than twice that of the Harrier EV.
