2022 Kia Sonet Launched – Gets Better Safety And New Colours | V3Cars

Kia have launched the 2022 Sonet in the Indian market. The 2022 Sonet is now priced from Rs. 7.15 lakh ex-showroom. The 2022 Sonet offers more safety features as standard, as well as two new colour options like in the 2022 Seltos.

To cope with the ever-increasing competition, Kia India have added more standard safety features to the base variants of the Sonet. The newly-added safety features include front and side airbags and a high-line tyre pressure monitoring system. Other standard safety features include ABS with EBD, front seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, speed-sensing auto door lock, impact sensing auto door unlock, reverse parking sensors and seatbelt reminders.

The HTX+ variant now gets 6 airbags whereas the HTK+ iMT variant gains electronic stability program (ESP), vehicle stability management (VSM), brake assist and hill start assist. In addition to that, the Sonet range will get the semi-leatherette upholstery from the HTE base variant itself. As we stated earlier, Kia India have also added two new colours to the Sonet range – silver and blue.

Apart from the aforementioned changes, the 2022 Sonet remains mechanically unchanged. It continues to get three engine options – 1.2L normal petrol engine, 1.5L turbo diesel engine and the 1.0L turbo petrol engine. The 1.2L normal petrol engine produces 83PS of power and 113Nm torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.5L turbo-diesel engine produces 100PS of power and 240Nm of torque with the 6-speed manual and 115PS of power and 250Nm of torque with the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine produces 120PS of power and 172Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT) and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Kia Sonet rivals the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300. Maruti Suzuki are all set to launch the 2022 Vitara Brezza with a host of changes in mid-2022. Similarly, Hyundai India are also preparing to launch the Venue facelift in the Indian market later this year.
