In terms of design, the EcoSport SE looks identical to the standard EcoSport save for the rear profile. At the back, it misses out on a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Replacing the spare wheel, it gets a number plate housing with a chrome applique. It also gets a redesigned rear bumper with a faux skid plate. The new variant looks similar to the US-spec model which is also made-in-India for export purposes.

Compared to the top-spec S variant, the SE variant also gets a chrome-finished front grille and new alloy wheels as we have seen on the lower variant of the EcoSport. It also gets a SE badge and a body-coloured roof instead of the black roof found on the S variant.

On the inside, while the cabin layout remains unchanged, the SE variant replicates the lower variants of the EcoSport as it gets fabric upholstery and a beige interior theme. The S variant, in comparison, gets leatherette seats with a black interior theme.

That said, on the features front, the SE variant is similar to the S variant. It gets auto HID headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto AC, electric sunroof, height-adjustable driver’s seat, parking camera, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, push-button start, connected car tech and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety features on offer include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, Ford MyKey, tyre pressure monitoring system, emergency assistance, electronic stability control, hill launch assist and traction control. The EcoSport SE also gets a tyre puncture repair kit, unlike the S variant, as it misses out on a spare wheel. The S variant also gets ISOFIX child seat anchors and puddle lamps both of which are not available on the SE variant.

Under the hood, the EcoSport SE is similar to any other variant of the EcoSport. It gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine making 122PS and 149Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 100PS and 215Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Ford also offers an option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic with the EcoSport petrol but it is limited to the Titanium+ variant only.
