Volkswagen have released a teaser of the updated Virtus, offering an early look at the facelifted sedan’s revised styling. The 2026 Virtus facelift is expected to make its India debut in late November, ahead of an early-December launch.

While the overall silhouette remains unchanged, the facelift is expected to bring feature upgrades, including an 8-speed automatic transmission for the 1L turbo-petrol engine.
The teaser reveals subtle styling changes, while the headlamps and tail lamps appear to retain their existing design.

At the front, the Virtus facelift features chrome strips across the grille. Like the Taigun facelift, the Topline variant of the updated Virtus is likely to offer a connected light strip as well as an illuminated VW logo. The car in the teaser is a GT variant, identifiable by the red ‘GT’ badge on the left side of the grille. The front bumper gets revised air intakes and sharper detailing.

The side profile remains largely unchanged, retaining the long bonnet, 3-box silhouette and sloping roofline. The teaser also appears to show the same 16-inch ‘Razor’ alloy wheels as the outgoing Virtus GT model.

At the rear, the tail lamps appear unchanged and remain separate, without a connecting light bar across the boot lid. The rear bumper gets revised detailing, while the boot lid retains its existing design.
Volkswagen have not revealed the facelift’s interior yet. However, the updated sedan could get several features introduced in the Taigun facelift earlier this year.
Like the SUV, the Virtus is likely to offer the 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the lower Highline variant onwards. The 8-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, single-pane sunroof and wireless smartphone connectivity are expected to continue.
Other possible additions include a 6-way powered driver’s seat, improved ambient lighting and additional parking assistance features.

The 2026 Virtus facelift is expected to retain the existing 1L and 1.5L turbo petrol engines. However, the 1L turbo-petrol automatic variant will get an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission, replacing the current 6-speed unit.
This gearbox upgrade brings the Virtus in line with the updated Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Slavia, which also use the 8-speed automatic with their 1L turbo-petrol engines.
Check out the expected powertrain specifications of the Virtus facelift in the table below:
The 1.5L turbo-petrol engine is expected to continue with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

We expect the Volkswagen Virtus facelift to start at around Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated sedan is expected to be unveiled in India in late November, with Volkswagen India likely to announce variant-wise prices in December.
Once launched, the facelifted Virtus will continue to rival the Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna and Honda City in the C-segment sedan space.
