Suzuki Motor Corporation, the parent company of Maruti Suzuki, have unveiled their first mass-production battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e- Vitara, in Milan, Italy. The e Vitara is essentially the production-spec version of the eVX concept SUV that was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 followed by the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. The e Vitara is expected to launch in India in early 2025 at a starting price of Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom) and we could get a closer look at it at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. But before that, let’s take a quick look at the 2025 e Vitara’s design, interior, features, powertrain specs, and range of the upcoming e Vitara below.

The new e Vitara electric SUV from Suzuki is built on an all-new skateboard platform called the Heartect-e. The new platform incorporates a lightweight structure and helps offer a spacious interior due to the short overhangs. Suzuki also say this platform offers high-voltage protection, and is designed to maximise battery capacity.

Speaking of batteries, Suzuki will offer the e Vitara with 2 battery packs – 49kWh and 61kWh. The smaller battery pack only comes with front-wheel-drive, while the larger battery pack can be had with 2-wheel and all-wheel-drive. Here are the electric motor and battery specifications of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara:
The e Vitara equipped with the 49kWh battery pack produces 144PS of power, while the 61kWh battery and FWD produce 174PS of power. Both versions produce a maximum torque of 189Nm. The e Vitara AWD gets 2 electric motors producing a combined power output of 184PS and maximum torque of 300Nm.

In terms of design, we were surprised to see the carmaker retain most of the design highlights of the eVX concept SUV. Maruti Suzuki have a long history of showcasing concepts with futuristic designs but then end up toning it down for the final production-spec model. Think of concepts like the S Concept and the A Star concept which ended up being the S-Presso and the A-Star.

Up front, the e Vitara features sleek LED headlights and Y-shaped LED DRLs. Personally, I’m happy that Maruti Suzuki aren’t following the current trend of offering connected LED headlamps. Instead, they have gone for a gloss black trim in between. The bumper is sculpted heavily and features a black lower portion along with an air dam, which is flanked by LED fog lamps.

Around the side, the e Vitara features blacked-out A- and B-pillars, while the C-pillar houses the rear door handles, just like the previous-gen Swift. The rear haunches are quite pronounced and the lower black cladding gives the e Vitara a rugged look. The 2WD variants of the e Vitara will feature 18-inch alloy wheels while the AWD variant pictured here gets 19-inch alloy wheels with aero inserts.

At the rear, the e Vitara gets connected LED tail lights, a roof spoiler, a shark fin antenna, and a rear fog lamp as well. Check out the dimensions of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara in the table below:
With the dimensions mentioned above, it is clear that Maruti Suzuki are aiming at C-segment electric SUVs with the upcoming e Vitara. When launched, the e Vitara will not only rival the Tata Curvv EV and the MG ZS EV but also take on the upcoming Mahindra BE 6e and the Hyundai Creta EV.
2025 Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Interior And Features
On the inside, the 2025 e Vitara gets a dual-tone black-and-tan interior with a 2-spoke steering wheel. While the flat-bottom steering wheel itself isn’t as fancy as the ones offered in Tata’s EVs, it is functional with physical buttons for controlling various aspects of the car. The e Vitara also gets dual integrated screens for infotainment and driver’s display. The AC vents feature brushed aluminium trim around it and the AC settings are accessed by physical buttons on the dashboard.

Below the AC controls lies a wireless phone charger with USB ports and 2 cupholders. The centre console gets a gloss black finish and houses the rotary drive elector, electronic parking brake, and various other controls, including hill descent control, surround view camera, and more.
Suzuki are yet to reveal the full feature list of the e Vitara. However, based on the images, we can confirm it will offer ADAS. Expected features include 6 airbags, automatic climate control and ventilated front seats, among others.
