Maruti Suzuki recently announced that they are making 6 airbags as part of the standard equipment for the WagonR. Additionally, we have learned from a source that 5x 3-point seatbelts will also become available in all variants of the WagonR. Earlier, only 4 occupants got 3-point seatbelts while the 2nd row centre occupant only got a lap belt.

It’s worth noting that the Grand i10 Nios was the most affordable car to offer 3-point seatbelts for all occupants at a time when no other carmaker offered this feature under Rs. 10.0 lakh. Hyundai were also the first carmaker to start offering 6 airbags as standard equipment in all of their cars back in 2023. So, Maruti are about 2 years late to the party but it’s nice to see the competition pushing Maruti to do better.
Maruti Suzuki have also recently updated their Brezza, Celerio, Alto K10, Grand Vitara and Eeco and made some safety features such as 6 airbags and 3-point seatbelts for all occupants as part of the standard equipment.

With this feature change, the prices of the WagonR have gone up. To see the variant-wise price change and the magnitude of price hike, you can visit the following link:
