Mercedes To Launch AMG GT 63 S E Performance On April 11 | V3Cars

Mercedes-Benz India are all set to launch their 2nd AMG model for 2023 — the GT 63 S E Performance sedan. The electrified version of the GT 63 S 4 Door made its debut back in 2021 and now it’s heading to India.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance is the first hybrid model to wear the AMG badge. Since its debut, Mercedes-Benz have equipped other AMG models with electrified powertrains, such as the new C 63 S. The GT 63 S E Performance uses a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 and an electric motor to offer a combined power output of 843PS and maximum torque of 1400Nm. The 204PS electric motor sits at the rear axle and it offers an all-electric range of 12km. The GT 63 S E Performance can hit 0-100kmph in just 2.9 seconds while the top speed is capped at 316kmph.

The rear-mounted electric motor draws power from a 6.1kWh battery pack, which is inspired by a Formula 1 race car. The battery pack is designed for quick charge and draw of power and it weighs just 89kg. It uses a 3.7kW on-board AC charger to juice up the battery while 4-stage regenerative braking is also offered to boost charging efficiency.

The GT 63 S E Performance gets a few design elements that make it different from the GT 63 S 4 Door. At the front, it gets a sportier front apron that carries inspiration from the 2-door AMG GT Coupe. Furthermore, the GT 63 S E Performance also gets a charging port and quad exhaust pipes at the rear. On the inside, the GT 63 S E Performance gets turbine-inspired AC vents, an AMG steering wheel with twin spokes and customisable rotary control dials.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance India Launch Details

As we stated earlier, Mercedes-Benz India will launch the GT 63 S E Performance on April 11. It will sit at the top of AMG’s model portfolio in India since the GT 2 Door Coupe is no longer available in India. The GT 63 S E Performance will go up against the Porsche Panamera Turbo SE Hybrid in the Indian market and it is likely to carry a price tag north of Rs. 2.5 crore (ex-showroom).
