Let’s first look at the prices of both the cars for the petrol-manual powertrain.
With the petrol-manual powertrain, the MG Astor’s prices start at Rs. 9.78 lakh and top out at Rs. 13.98 lakh. The Honda City’s petrol-manual range costs between Rs. 11.16 lakh and Rs. 13.61 lakh.

The Astor’s 7 petrol-automatic variants cost between Rs. 12.68 lakh and Rs. 17.38 lakh. The Honda City’s 3 petrol-automatic variants cost between Rs. 12.56 lakh and Rs. 14.91 lakh.
MG Astor is not offered with a diesel engine option. Meanwhile, the City diesel-manual is available in 3 variants available with prices starting from Rs. 12.76 lakh and going upto Rs. 15.11 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG Astor Vs Honda City - Dimension Comparison
The MG Astor is a SUV while the Honda City is a Sedan. The Astor is 4323mm long, 1809mm wide and 1650mm tall. The Astor’s wheelbase is 2585mm long. The City measures 4549mm long, 1748mm wide and 1489mm tall and has a wheelbase measuring 2600mm. In terms of dimensions, the MG Astor is considerably larger than the Honda City. So, the Astor will offer stronger road presence than the City.
The Astor’s ground clearance and boot space details are not available at the moment. The Honda City has a ground clearance of 165mm and a boot space measuring 506 litres.
MG Astor Vs Honda City - Engine Spec Comparison
The MG Astor is available with 2 petrol engines - a 1.5L normal petrol and a 1.4L turbo petrol. The 1.5L normal petrol gets a 5-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission options, while the 1.4L turbo petrol is available with a 6-speed TC automatic transmission.
The 1.5L normal petrol engine of the Astor makes 110PS of power at 6000rpm and 144Nm of torque between 4400 and rpm. The 1.4L turbo petrol engine in the MG Astor pushes out 140PS of power at 5600rpm and 220Nm of torque at 3600rpm.
The Honda City only gets a 1.5L normal petrol engine, which is available with a 6-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission. The City’s 1.5L normal petrol engine makes 121PS of power at 6600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4300rpm.

The Honda City is only available with a 1.5L turbo diesel engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. This engine makes 100PS of power at 3600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1750rpm.
