Hyundai Tucson Scores 5-Star Safety Rating In Bharat NCAP Crash Tests | V3Cars
Hyundai have a new champion in the realm of safety – the 2024 Tucson. The latest iteration of the Tucson has aced the rigorous testing procedures conducted by Bharat NCAP, the Indian automotive safety watchdog. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone for Hyundai, as the Tucson is the first of their vehicles to undergo Bharat NCAP assessment.
Hyundai Tucson Gets 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
The Tucson’s performance in the crash tests was nothing short of stellar. It secured a perfect 5-star rating for both adult occupant protection (AOP) and child occupant protection (COP). In the AOP category, the Tucson achieved an impressive 30.84 points out of 32, placing it among the top contenders in Bharat NCAP’s short history. This score translates to exceptional protection for drivers and passengers in the event of a collision.
Hyundai Tucson Safety Features Shine In Crash Tests
Hyundai are attributing The Tucson’s impressive safety rating to its robust suite of safety features. These features include 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters for all passengers, electronic stability control (ESC), and ISOFIX child seat anchorages for the rear outboard seats. The Tucson also complies with AIS-100 pedestrian protection norms, demonstrating Hyundai's commitment to pedestrian safety as well.

Detailed Breakdown Of Hyundai Tucson AOP And COP Performance
The Bharat NCAP assessment process involves a series of tests that evaluate a vehicle’s ability to safeguard occupants during a crash. In the AOP tests, the Tucson excelled in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, scoring 14.84 out of 16 points. It also achieved a perfect score of 16 out of 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. While the side pole impact test resulted in an “OK” rating, the Tucson's overall AOP performance remains commendable.
When it comes to COP, the Tucson secured a commendable 41 points out of 49. It received full marks in both the dynamic test (24/24) and the CRS installation test (12/12). The 5 stars awarded in the vehicle assessment test indicate an acceptable level of child safety. The tests employed 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies secured in rearward-facing child seats using ISOFIX anchorages and support legs.
Additional Safety Features Of Hyundai Tucson
Beyond the features evaluated by Bharat NCAP, the Hyundai Tucson boasts a range of additional driver-assistance technologies that further enhance safety and convenience. These include hill hold control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a rearview camera, and front and rear parking sensors. The Tucson also offers Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) features, providing an extra layer of protection on the road.
