Mercedes-Benz have unveiled the new CLE Coupe for global markets. The Mercedes CLE Coupe shares a similar footprint as the now discontinued E-Class 2-door and borrows its engines from the C-Class sedan. Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe Makes Its Debut

The new Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe combines the best bits of the now-discontinued C-Class and E-Class 2-door coupe. The new CLE shares a similar footprint as the E-Class 2-door wrapped in a streamlined design that maintains Mercedes’ current design philosophy. A quick look at the dimensions provides us with a clear understanding of where this car stands in comparison to its predecessors. The CLE Coupe surpasses the previous C-Class Coupe by an additional 164mm in length, even surpassing the 2-door variant of the E-Class Coupe by 15mm. It shares the same width as the latter but boasts an additional 50mm width compared to the C-Class Coupe.

In terms of height, the new model stands 23mm taller, yet 2mm shorter than the previous E-Class Coupe. Lastly, the wheelbase measures 25 mm longer than that of the C-Class Coupe but falls 8 mm shorter than the wheelbase of the E-Class Coupe.

As far as engine options are concerned, the CLE borrows its powertrains from the C-Class sedan. So you can pick between a 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder petrol engine and there are a pair of electrified powertrains on offer as well. Even the interior is the same as the C-Class sedan. The interior elements such as the dashboard, vents, and screens bear a striking resemblance to those found in the C-Class and new GLC models. A 12.3-inch digital driver display and an 11.9-inch portrait-style central infotainment screen, both running the latest MBUX software, grace the cabin. Exclusive to the CLE, the front seats boast integrated speakers in the headrests, while the cabin is adorned with a 64-color ambient lighting seen in other recent Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz are yet to reveal the exact engine and transmission specifications of the CLE Coupe. However, we expect the 2 petrol engine options to produce the same output as the C-Class and GLC.

255PS of power from the 2.0L turbo petrol engine
375PS from the 3.0L inline-6 turbo petrol engine

Both engines are likely to be mated to Mercedes’ 9-speed automatic gearbox and a few variants could feature the company’s 4Matic all-wheel drivetrain as well.

Mercedes-Benz CLE India Launch Details

Mercedes-Benz are typically quick to launch their global products in India. The new CLE Coupe is set to go on sale in the US market in 2024. Hence, we can expect Mercedes-Benz India to launch the CLE Coupe in India in late-2024. We expect the CLE Coupe to cost around Rs. 1.2 crore (ex-showroom) in India.
