Ahead of the new Renault Duster’s debut on November 29, the carmaker has released design sketches of the upcoming SUV. Patent images of the new Renault Duster 2024 were leaked online recently and the latest design sketches give us a glimpse of what we could expect in the India-bound C-segment SUV.

Renault Duster Design Sketches Revealed

Over a week ago, we took a look at the Renault Duster’s patent images that revealed the upcoming SUV’s flat bonnet, and slim upper grille with rectangular elements that connect the Y-shaped LED headlamps at either ends. The patent images also revealed the front bumper of the upcoming Duster 2024, featuring an air dam surrounded by a silver skid plate and vents placed at either ends to aid aerodynamics and cool the front brakes.

The latest design sketches released by Dacia, Renault’s sister brand, suggests the new Duster could also receive a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a first for the SUV. Additionally, the new Duster could get 10-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels and black plastic cladding on the lower edges of the front and rear doors. The rear quarter glass in the design sketches retains the same shape as its predecessor while the B- and C-pillars could get a black wrap. The rear haunches, meanwhile, do not bulge out as much as on the first-gen Duster that was offered in India.

At the rear, the 2024 Duster’s patent images reveal Y-shaped LED tail lamps and there are no connecting LED strips or reflectors to be found here. The roof rails and the roof-mounted spoiler give the new Duster a rugged yet sporty appeal.

Reports suggest that the new Renault Duster could offer the option of 5- and 7-seats. We expect the Duster 5-seater to compete in the C-SUV segment while the Duster 7-seater could get an extended wheelbase, which could potentially place it in the D1-SUV segment that is currently home to the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700 7-seater.

New-Gen Renault Duster Interiors And Features

The patent images that were leaked earlier and the latest design sketches do not showcase the interior of the 2024 Duster. However, in the European market, the Duster is sold under the Dacia brand at an affordable price point. Consequently, the current model sold in Europe only offers essential features, such as a touchscreen infotainment system and automatic air conditioning. However, as the new Duster will compete with the Hyundai Creta and other C-segment SUVs in the Indian market, we expect it to be fully equipped with all the desirable features expected from a C-segment SUV. Therefore, the India-spec 2024 Duster could feature a panoramic sunroof, a large touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree parking camera, and an electronically-adjustable driver seat.

2024 Renault Duster Expected Powertrain Details

In terms of powertrain, we expect the next-gen Duster to come with petrol engine options. Renault could continue with the same 1.5L normal petrol engine and 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine that were on offer with the old Duster. Additionally, since Renault are testing the Arkana hybrid on Indian roads, they could also consider a strong hybrid powertrain for their future products, including the Duster, to take on the strong hybrid variants of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

The 3rd-gen Duster SUV could make its India debut in early 2025. It will rival other C-segment SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Apart from the Duster, Renault also plan to launch another SUV based on the CMF-B platform and a small electric hatchback in India. You can read more about them by clicking the link below. Sister brand, Nissan, have confirmed it will launch 2 new SUVs based on the Duster’s platform. While one of them will be a C-segment SUV with seating for 5 passengers, the other is expected to be a D1-segment SUV with 3-row seating.
