As per Tata Motors, the Curvv will go on sale in India in 2024. Initially, Tata Motors will offer the Curvv as an all-electric coupe SUV whereas an ICE-powered derivative will follow later. The highlight of the Curvv is its tapering roofline that makes it stand apart from the other C-segment SUVs. At this point, no other carmaker offer an affordable coupe SUV in the Indian market. But that’s not to say that carmakers haven’t tried entering this unique segment in the past.

Back in 2016, Mahindra took the wraps off the XUV500 Aero, a coupe derivative of the XUV500. However, since the XUV500 is no longer on sale, the XUV500 Aero is unlikely to hit the production line. However, Mahindra’s upcoming range of born electric SUVs will include a few coupe SUVs. Out of the 5 born electric SUVs that Mahindra have planned for the near future, 3 are likely to boast a coupe SUV bodystyle.
Apart from Mahindra, Renault are likely to introduce the Arkana coupe SUV in the Indian market. The Arkana was spotted on our roads multiple times last year wearing company registered plates. The Arkana is already on sale in global markets and if Renault plan to bring it to our market, it will likely follow the completely knocked down (CKD) route. If that happens, the Arkana could carry a price tag upwards of Rs. 30 lakh ex-showroom.

Currently, the most affordable coupe SUV in India is the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. Despite that, it retails at Rs. 72.50 lakh ex-showroom. The Curvv, on the other hand, is likely to come at one-third the price of the GLC Coupe. Tata Motors will launch the Curvv in 2024 with an electric powertrain whereas the petrol variants will follow later. It will sit between the Nexon B2-segment SUV and Harrier D1-segment SUV in the brand’s portfolio.
