Honda are all set to reveal their new SUV for the Indian market in mid-2023. While details are scarce at this moment, the new spy shots give us a sneak peek into its exterior bodystyle and design. Up front, the test car gets conventional headlights with a segmented LED DRL design. Unlike the latest SUVs that sport a split headlight design, the upcoming SUV from Honda will offer a conventional headlight design.

The spy shots also reveal a small protrusion below the passenger-side ORVM, which could be the camera for blind spot monitoring. The front and rear bumpers of the test car seem slim, hinting towards its sub-4m length. However, Honda are yet to confirm the segment and dimensions of their upcoming SUV. The official design sketches and spied images, however, suggest that it could be a sub-4m SUV.

In terms of powertrains, we do not expect the new Honda SUV to get the City’s 1.5L normal petrol engine as that would put it in a higher tax bracket because of its larger engine capacity. Instead, Honda could equip it with a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine that is offered in the City sedan in various global markets. The turbocharged petrol engine produces 122PS of power at 5500rpm and 173Nm of torque between 2000rpm and 4500rpm. It is likely to be offered with a 6-speed manual and a continuously variable transmission (CVT)

As we stated earlier, Honda will host the global debut of the upcoming SUV in mid 2023 whereas its launch could take place around the festive season. The upcoming B2-segment SUV is likely to rival other SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
