In this Mahindra Scorpio-N vs Volkswagen Tiguan comparison, we’ll look at the variant-wise prices, engine specs, dimensions to help you decide which car you should buy.

Let’s first look at the prices of both the cars for the petrol-manual powertrain.
With the petrol-manual powertrain, the Mahindra Scorpio-N’s prices start at Rs. 13.60 lakh and top out at Rs. 20.62 lakh (ex-showroom). Volkswagen do not offer the Tiguan with the petrol-manual powertrain.
The Scorpio-N petrol-automatic is available in 5 variants with prices ranging from Rs. 16.80 lakh to Rs. 21.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tiguan’s 1 petrol-automatic variant costs Rs. 35.17 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 12 diesel-manual variants of the Mahindra Scorpio-N start at Rs. 14.00 lakh and go up to Rs. 22.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Volkswagen Tiguan is not available with diesel-manual powertrain.
The 8 diesel-automatic variants of the Mahindra Scorpio-N start at Rs. 17.30 lakh and go up to Rs. 24.54 lakh (ex-showroom). Volkswagen Tiguan is not available with diesel-automatic powertrain.
The Mahindra Scorpio-N and the Volkswagen Tiguan are both SUVs. The Scorpio-N is 4662mm long, 1917mm wide and 1857mm tall. The Scorpio-N’s wheelbase is 2750mm long. The Tiguan measures 4509mm long, 1839mm wide and 1665mm tall and has a wheelbase measuring 2679mm. In terms of dimensions, the Mahindra Scorpio-N is significantly larger than the Volkswagen Tiguan. So, the Scorpio-N will offer a stronger road presence than the Tiguan.
The Scorpio-N has a ground clearance of 187mm while the Tiguan has a ground clearance of 200mm. The 460-litre boot space of the Scorpio-N is 155 litres smaller than that of the Tiguan.
The Mahindra Scorpio-N is available with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine, which is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed TC automatic transmission.
The Scorpio-N’s turbo petrol engine makes 203PS of power at 5000rpm and 370Nm of torque between 1750rpm and 3000 rpm with the manual and 380Nm of torque between 1750rpm and 3000rpm with the automatic transmission.
The Volkswagen Tiguan is only available with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine and a 7-s03peed DCT automatic transmission. This engine makes 190PS of power at 4200rpm and 320Nm of torque between 1500 and 4100rpm.
The Mahindra Scorpio-N gets a 2.2L turbo diesel engine, which is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic TC transmission. The Scorpio-N’s turbo diesel engine makes 175PS of power at 3500rpm and 370Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 3000rpm with the manual and 400Nm of torque between 1750rpm and 2750rpm with the automatic transmission.
The 2.2L turbo diesel engine is also offered with a lower tune of 132PS of power at 3750rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 300rpm. The powertrain option with this tuning is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
