
Skoda is all set to launch the fourth-gen Octavia in India on 10 June 2021. And while the launch is just a few days away, the carmaker has confirmed that it also plans to launch the sportier Octavia RS in India but at a later stage. It will continue to be a CBU import as the previous-gen Octavia RS 245 which is on sale in the country. Skoda also used to sell the 230PS previous-gen Octavia RS in India but it was discounted in November 2018.

Volkswagen has launched the Polo TSI Comfortline variant with an automatic transmission. Earlier, the option of automatic transmission was limited to the Highline Plus and GT variants only. The Polo TSI Comfortline AT is priced at Rs 8.61 lakh (ex-showroom India), Rs 1.1 lakh more than its manual counterpart. With the introduction of the Comfortline AT variant, the base price of the Polo TSI automatic has come down by Rs 99,000 as the Highline Plus AT variant is priced at 9.60 lakh (ex-showroom India).

Zac Hollis, Director - ŠKODA AUTO India, replying to a user on Twitter has confirmed that the brand has no current plans of bringing back the Karoq SUV in India. Skoda launched the Karoq in May 2020. It was brought in as a CBU import and only 1000 units of the SUV were allotted to India. The Karoq was sold out by the end of 2020 and Skoda removed it from its website in January 2021.

Earlier this month, Zac Hollis, Director - ŠKODA AUTO India, confirmed on Twitter that the fourth-gen Octavia will go on sale in June 2021. Now, we might have a launch date for the sedan. According to communication by a Skoda dealer, the new Octavia will go on sale on 10 June 2021 and the bookings for the sedan are already underway. The message also suggests that the sedan will be priced around Rs 27.5 lakh to Rs 32 lakh. That said, Skoda is yet to confirm any launch date for the new sedan.

A production-spec model of the Tata HBX was spied recently ahead of its expected to debut later this year. As the test mule was partially camouflaged, it revealed the SUV’s front fascia which looks largely similar to the HBX concept which was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.

In an industry-first move, Kia has launched the ‘Satisfaction Guarantee Scheme’ for the new Kia Carnival buyers. Sources have confirmed that the Toyota Belta sedan will go on sale in India in August 2021. For the uninitiated, the Belta is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift which has been on sale in the country since 2018. The Belta will be the third product to come out of the Toyota-Suzuki partnership after the Toyota Glanza (Maruti Baleno) and the Toyota Urban Cruiser (Maruti Vitara Brezza).
