2022 Honda CR-V Breaks Cover — Bigger and Better Than Before | V3Cars

Honda have taken the wraps off the 2022 CR-V for the US markets. The new CR-V has grown in dimensions and received a big design overhaul. In addition to that, it also gets a more powerful twin-motor hybrid system.

The new CR-V takes inspiration from the recently-launched Passport Trailsport. It gets a sleeker front profile, boasting LED headlights and a new signature chrome grille. The front grille gets large chrome-studded inlets and the Honda logo in between. At the side, the CR-V gets a running beltline, accentuating the increased length. At the rear, the CR-V continues to get vertically-stacked LED tail lights.

Thanks to the increased wheelbase and cabin width, the new CR-V offers better space and comfort on the inside. Its interior layout is reminiscent of the new Civic, boasting an Audi-like uninterrupted AC vent design with a mesh pattern. Sitting atop the dash is a 9.0-inch infotainment display that also offers wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include a digital instrument cluster, 8-way power-adjustable driver seat and 12-speaker Bose sound system.

2022 Honda CR-V — Engine Options

Honda offer the new CR-V with petrol and hybrid petrol engine options. The highlight is the new twin-motor hybrid drivetrain. It consists of a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle petrol engine mated to two electric motors. The combined power and torque output stands at 204PS and 335Nm respectively. The other one is the 1.5L turbo petrol engine, which produces 190PS of power and 242Nm of torque.

2022 Honda CR-V — Rivals And India Launch

The new Honda CR-V rivals other family SUVs like the Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. Honda Cars India do not seem to have any plans to launch the CR-V’s here as the Japanese carmaker is currently focussing on their made-in-India product range.
