Kia Install India’s Fastest 240kW DC Fast Charger | V3Cars

Kia have inaugurated India’s fastest 240kW DC fast charger in Kochi, Kerala. This is the first 240kW DC fast charger in the country and it is accessible to all EV owners, regardless of the brand of car they own. In July 2022, Kia also inaugurated a 150kW fast charger in Gurugram, Haryana.

Kia India launched their first electric vehicle, the EV6 electric crossover, in June 2022. Ever since the launch of the EV6, Kia are setting up charging stations at their dealerships to ensure a hassle-free experience for EV buyers and owners. These chargers will also benefit the upcoming range of electric vehicles from Kia, with the first of these EV set to hit our shores in 2025.

Speaking at the inauguration, Myung-sik Sohn, chief sales officer, Kia India, stated, “These are exciting times for EVs, and we aim not just to be a part of the mobility revolution of EVs in India but to make EV ownership aspirational, accessible, and inclusive. Our global best EV, Kia EV6, launched in India earlier this year, is the perfect illustration of our philosophy. Subsequently, launching this 240-kWh DC fast charger for EV passenger vehicles in Kochi brings me immense joy. This is a significant milestone for us at Kia India as we continue strengthening our commitment to developing EV infrastructure in the country and contributing to India's mobility growth story. Our EV journey in India does not stop here, in fact, we are in the process of setting up more charging stations at our EV dealerships across the country, ensuring superior customer experience and reducing the issue of charging time and range anxiety that usually follows EV customers.”

The Kia EV6 electric crossover garnered 355 bookings even before the price announcement. Kia India planned to import only 100 units of the EV6 initially. However, to serve the overwhelming demand, Kia India are in talks with Kia global headquarters to green flag more EV6 electric crossovers for the Indian market.
