Hyundai have revealed the 2027 Tucson with a boxier styling than its predecessor, which was discontinued in 2025.. The new model gets a more upright and squared-off exterior, a completely redesigned cabin and a larger footprint.

While Hyundai have not revealed the full technical specifications yet, the new Tucson’s design and feature package could be relevant for Indian buyers. Several of its styling and technology features could eventually filter down to the 2027 Creta, which is expected to launch in March 2027.
The new Tucson moves away from the rounded and heavily sculpted appearance of the previous model in favour of a more boxy and muscular silhouette.
The front end gets a broad, squared-off treatment with a full-width LED daytime running lamp (DRL). Vertical DRLs sit at either end, while the main headlamps are positioned lower down on the bumper.

The new Tucson also gets prominent wheel arches, chunky black cladding and a more upright body. Dual-tone alloy wheels further enhance its premium appearance.
At the rear, the design follows the same theme with a slim LED light bar, vertically positioned tail lamps and a large Tucson nameplate on the tailgate.

The new Tucson’s upright proportions, sharper surfaces and squared-off stance could influence the next-gen Creta’s design language, albeit in a scaled-down form.

Hyundai have increased the dimensions of the new Tucson, with the additional length and width aimed at improving cabin space:
The cabin of the new Tucson gets an all-new design for a more contemporary appearance than the older model.
A slim digital instrument display sits on the upper section of the dashboard, while a large central touchscreen dominates the centre console. Hyundai have retained some physical controls below the touchscreen instead of shifting every function into the display.
The new Tucson also gets a new steering wheel featuring Hyundai’s pixel-inspired logo. The transmission selector has been moved to a stalk behind the steering wheel, freeing up space around the centre console.

The new Tucson’s features could be significant for Hyundai’s future India portfolio, especially the 3rd-gen Creta.
The top features of the new Tucson include:
Not all of these features are likely to make their way into the Creta. However, Hyundai could use the next-gen Creta to introduce a significantly premium dashboard, newer and larger infotainment displays, enhanced connectivity features as well as additional driver-assistance features.

Hyundai have not announced the complete powertrain lineup for the new Tucson yet. The previous India-spec Tucson was offered with a 2.0L normal petrol engine producing 156PS of power and a 2.0L turbo diesel producing 186PS. The petrol engine was paired with a 6-speed automatic, while the diesel received an 8-speed automatic 2 years ahead of its eventual discontinuation. The diesel was also available with all-wheel drive (AWD).
Internationally, the Tucson is offered with electrified powertrains, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.
The previous-generation Tucson was discontinued in India in late 2025, and Hyundai have not yet confirmed an India launch timeline for the new model.
However, the new Tucson’s design and technology provide an interesting preview of Hyundai’s future SUV strategy. Based on spy shots, we can confirm that the next-generation Creta will use a boxier design. To help it move further aftermarket, Hyundai could borrow several features from the Tucson to maintain the Creta’s position as one of the best-selling SUV in the Indian market.
