2021 Tata Nexon EV (Electric) Variants Explained - Which Variant To Buy?

TATA NEXON EV PRICES

The Nexon EV’s entry level XM variant is priced at Rs. 14.24 lakh. This variant is almost Rs. 5.3 lakh costlier than its corresponding petrol-automatic variant.

The Nexon EV XZ Plus variant is priced at Rs. 15.65 lakh and is around Rs. 5.0 lakh more expensive than the comparable petrol-automatic variant. The top-of-line Nexon EV XZ Plus Lux variant costs Rs. 16.65 lakh (ex-showroom).

 

TATA NEXON XM VARIANT

The Nexon EV’s base XM base variant is priced at Rs. 14.24 lakh. This variant offers all the basic safety features, apart from which there are also features like projector headlamps, driver seat belt with pretensioners, day/night IRVM, hill start assist and descent control.

In terms of entertainment, the XM variant comes with a basic audio system with 4 speakers and steering-mounted controls.

This variant’s notable functional features include multi drive modes, auto AC, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, tilt steering, electrically adjustable & foldable ORVMs, all power windows and telematics.

Its noteworthy styling features include - LED DRLs, body coloured bumpers, black door handles & ORVMs, 16-inch wheels with wheel covers, LED tail lamps, part digital instrument cluster and flat-bottom steering wheel.

For its price, we think that this base variant lacks several must-have features, such as - auto-dimming IRVM, electronic stability control, rear defogger, rear wiper, touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking camera, height adjustable driver seat, adjustable rear headrests and rear AC vents.

The XZ Plus variant’s key additional functional features include cooled glovebox, height adjustable driver seat, front armrest, auto folding ORVMs and rear AC vents.

To add to the sporty visual appeal, this variant adds dual-tone exterior option, 16-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured door handles, shark-fin antenna and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

It is very apparent that the XZ Plus variant doesn’t offer enough feel-good features to justify its Rs. 15.65 lakh price tag. The top Nexon EV XZ Plus Lux variant is Rs. 1 lakh costlier than the XZ Plus variant. 

 

This top variant’s key additions to the package includes features like sunroof, auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers, 60:40 split rear seat with adjustable headrests, armrest and leather upholstery.

The Nexon EV is capable of offering a maximum power output of 129PS and a peak torque 245Nm. Its power:weight ratio is less than the Nexon petrol version, but the torque:weight ratio is considerably more. The Nexon EV comes with a claimed travel range of 312km per full charge. In comparison, on the basis of claimed fuel efficiency, its petrol version offers around 400km more. The claimed charging time of the Nexon EV from 10% to 90% is 8.5 hours when using a normal 15A plug point, while using a fast charger, it can charge 0-80% charge in 1 hour.

 

TATA NEXON EV DIMENSIONS

Just like the regular Tata Nexon, the Nexon EV is also a B2 segment compact SUV, thus its overall length is almost 4m.
