2024 Tata Tiago CNG Automatic (AMT) Expected Price Calculation - #WithLogic

In this article, we’ll estimate the ex-showroom prices of the variants of Tata Tiago, which are most likely to get the CNG powertrain with the AMT automatic transmission.

Let’s first start with the Tiago’s regular prices applicable as of February 1, 2024 to form a baseline:

As you can see, the petrol-automatic variants cost exactly Rs. 55,000 more than the petrol-manual. Meanwhile, the CNG-manual variants cost Rs. 95,000 more than the petrol-manual.

There are only 4 variants of the Tiago currently offering CNG, petrol-manual and petrol-automatic powertrain options. Considering this information, we expect only these trims to offer the option of CNG and automatic transmission together.

Tata currently charge Rs. 95,000 for the CNG kit in the Tiago and Rs. 55,000 for the AMT automatic transmission. Since the new model is combining these two features, our estimation suggests that they will simply add the two prices up and make the new CNG-AMT variants Rs. 1.50 lakh pricier than the petrol-manual trims.

Tiago CNG-AMT Expected Price Logic

Considering that they are the first ones exploring the market for a need for clutch pedal-free option in a CNG car, we’d usually say that they might be priced rather well. This helps them establish a market before proceeding with price revisions. However, considering Tata’s recent pricing structure, we’re pretty confident that they may not keep the prices lucrative. After all, they are the only ones in the country bringing this unique powertrain combination. This comes on top of the fact that their CNG cars have a fairly usable boot space because of the use of 2 smaller cylinders to store CNG fuel.

Thus, we expect the Tiago CNG-automatic to cost between Rs. 7.90 lakh and Rs. 8.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
