Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) have launched the Volkswagen brand in Sri Lanka through a partnership with Continental Cars and Commercials Ltd. The brand enters the market with the Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan, both manufactured at the Chakan plant in Pune.

Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) announced the launch of the Volkswagen brand in Sri Lanka in partnership with Continental Cars and Commercials Ltd, marking a significant milestone in the company’s regional growth journey and reinforcing its long-term commitment to the market.

The Volkswagen brand enters Sri Lanka with two globally acclaimed models, the Volkswagen Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan, bringing together European-quality products, strong safety credentials, and a premium ownership experience supported by world-class sales and after-sales service. Both models are manufactured at SAVWIPL’s state-of-the-art Chakan facility in Pune, India, and exported to markets across the world, reflecting the strength of the company’s “Make-in-India, for India and the World” strategy.

Continental Cars and Commercials Ltd, an experienced player in Sri Lanka’s premium automobile sector, is supporting the introduction of the Volkswagen brand in the market. As a part of the brand launch, SAVWIPL and Continental Cars and Commercials Ltd have inaugurated a world-class 3S facility in Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte – one of the most affluent residential areas of Colombo. With a built-up area of 18,713 sq. ft., nearly one acre of property area, and more than 20 service bays, the new Volkswagen showroom is designed to offer customers a comprehensive Sales, Service, and Spares experience under one roof.

Volkswagen’s entry into Sri Lanka comes at a time when the market is showing clear signs of stabilisation and recovery, with customer interest in premium mobility on the rise. The Sri Lanka launch also reflects SAVWIPL’s long-term vision to strengthen its role as a regional manufacturing and export hub for the Volkswagen Group.
